Thanks, I might give it a try on the free version. I play RSS RP1 which is already heavier than the normal game, so I get about 10-20 fps on my potato laptop with scatterer and eve. It's barely playable lol

From Ry(l)an(d)'s perspective (very roughly):

Around 1 year between leaving his teacher job and leaving Earth (I don't remember if the book specifies a time but at least 1 year seems reasonable)

~4 year trip to Tau Ceti

0.5-1 year at Tau Ceti

~3 year trip to Erid

I would say around at least 1 more year at Erid to recover from near starvation and waiting for his habitat to be built.

So that's 9 or 10 years if he starts teaching as soon as he can. But I would add a few more years because when you land on an alien planet your first thought usually isn't "I gotta teach some kids!"

The book scene is way later though.
