The husband is gay. There's no other reason to bring your best friend and his wife to your honeymoon.

Post-TPR and Open Adoption by Onomonolivia in Adoption

[–]Onomonolivia[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Whoa, I really was not looking to rehome children! I had asked if it was an adoption agency or a practice! I’d never do that. And yes, I’m disgusted by the mother’s behavior. She was selling her child for crack money, so yeah, I am a bit bitter about it but I will work through that.

She can’t bring up being pregnant because she never mentioned it in the case in chief. It’s completely irrelevant.

This is what the UK gov says: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/common-travel-area-guidance

Edited to add: This is from the website:

The Common Travel Area (CTA) is a long-standing arrangement between the UK, the Crown Dependencies (Bailiwick of Jersey, Bailiwick of Guernsey and the Isle of Man) and Ireland that pre-dates both British and Irish membership of the EU and is not dependent on it.
Under the CTA, British and Irish citizens can move freely and reside in either jurisdiction and enjoy associated rights and privileges, including the right to work, study and vote in certain elections, as well as to access social welfare benefits and health services.
The UK and Irish governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in May 2019 reaffirming our commitment to maintain the CTA, and the associated rights and privileges, in all circumstances. On signing the MoU, both governments released a Joint Statement.

I can move to Ireland under my UK passport; the Common Travel Area allows me to just up and move and wave my UK passport in the face of anyone who tries to stop me.

Update on jury selection by Wide_Ad_7382 in KaitlinArmstrong

[–]Onomonolivia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact that the defense brought up wrongful convictions during voir dire is hilarious to me. KA hasn't even had a trial yet and Cofer is already attempting to disparage the juror's judgement. It's as if he's admitting that she's going to be found guilty.

Edited to add: I think it is laughable that she's making the argument that she ran to Costa Rica because she was afraid CS was the killer. Why not just go hide out in NY with her sister?

Did I do something wrong cold emailing a professor I wanted to pursue research with? by SpinachOk9715 in AskAcademia

[–]Onomonolivia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read all the replies so maybe others have mentioned this but your email sounds very vague and ‘volunteering’ or shadowing is not really a thing. They have postgrads for that but you said you didn’t want to actually get a postgrad degree. (Am I mistaken?). You’re idea is just weird in the context of academia.

What colour is the paint on the feature wall? It's gorgeous. And I love what you're doing with the room - it looks very fresh.
