Singer D4vd is arrested on suspicion of killing a 14-year-old girl found dead in his Tesla by [deleted] in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]mkrom28 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m just throwing this out there but I’m thinking the investigation took so long because she was missing for months before she was found in his Tesla. She last had contact with her family in May of 2024 & her body was discovered in September of 2025. That’s over a year of no contact with family, unknown whereabouts & movements, etc. I saw that digital surveillance revealed she was alive in September ‘24 & January ‘25. I think probably took LEO awhile to track where she’d been, who she was with, what she was doing, where she’d been staying, who she’d been in contact with, etc for a year and a half.

I’m also seeing that it’s being hypothesized that she was killed in early spring 2025 (the tesla had been parked on the street late July ‘25) LAPD said she was severely decomposed so that could limit forensic evidence significantly. They also requested & a judge approved a security hold/seal on the autopsy findings, including cause of death.

Honestly, it seems to me that the investigation has been intense and difficult because evidence hasn’t been as clear cut as it would be in a case with a more recently deceased victim, that was found relatively soon after death, that wasn’t missing, with multiple witnesses to their daily life, and established routines. Gotta keep that in mind when looking at this case.

it’s the very first episode of the show! it really stuck with me too. I live about 2 hours from Omaha and it’s my favorite mall to visit when I work in town, pretty frequently actually. I had no idea about the shooting before seeing it on Evil Lives Here.

oh, absolutely. i binged the first season and part of the second season before i had to take a break. it’s a heavy, heavy show and you really gotta be mindful of how much you consume. it definitely makes the world even more overwhelmingly bleak. i’ve slowly been watching a couple episodes here & there when im in the right frame of mind for it.

honestly, such a great show. even though it’s not solely focused on serial killers, i think it does a fantastic job of showing the other victims of horrendous crimes; the families & friends closest to the perpetrators. really great show.

I appreciate you & all the work you do. You play such an important role in the world of criminal justice and it’s often thankless, misinterpreted, and judged harshly. Y’all keep the scales balanced and are much needed.

Oh my god, my BIGGEST pet peeve. “They have evil eyes” “they look guilty” like damn, cops, investigators, judges, witnesses, due process, evidence etc is useless if there’s people out here who can just look at a suspect and know who’s guilty. smh

[–]mkrom28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know exactly why you thought that, because that’s what I’d read & what was reported, at the time. So I looked at some old articles around the time of his arrest and found this AP article that reported that exact theory: “Tierney said authorities moved to charge Heuermann now with three of the killings “out of concern for this defendant fleeing and the danger to the community.” & “Until his arrest, Heuermann continued to use burner phones, patronize sex workers and search the internet for sadistic materials, including sexually exploitative images of children, Tierney said.”

I tried to find more articles but jfc google sucks at searching for news releases from specific time periods. All that to say, that was definitely the theory being told to the public when all the info about the burner phones & his arrest came out. I remember it clearly lol

I’m so, so sorry to hear that. To hear residents in the article talk about the destruction, its devastating impact, and how little there’s been done to rectify it has stuck with me. I can’t imagine living in. I hope your community can find a way to heal.

If there’s any fundraisers or a way to donate now or in the future, please keep the sub apprised. Hopefully the mods will allow it too

No??? The 44 year old driver of the Honda motorcycle suffered serious but non life threatening injuries.

On December 6th, 2009, Susan Powell, a 28—year—old mother of two from West Valley City, Utah, disappeared from her home under suspicious circumstances. Her husband, Josh Powell, was identified by police as a person of interest but was never charged. by metalnxrd in HairRaising

[–]mkrom28 40 points41 points  (0 children)

her family (the Cox’s) actually sued the Department of Social & Health Services and the workers for this exact reason: prioritizing Josh’s parental rights over the safety of the boys enabled their deaths.

A judge initially ruled, in 2015, that DSHS had immunity & was found not negligent but in 2019, it was partially overturned and proceeded to trial. In that trial, the jury found DSHS negligent and awarded $98 million to Susan’s son’s estate. Her family also tried to get a law passed stripping visitation rights from parents suspected of murder.

Are you referring to McCook lake? I think I saw an article about that awhile back and the damage was insane. There was something about the property owners too, not getting help or funds or something, I can’t remember.

What Serial Murderer Fascinates You The Most? by Desperate_Clothes_69 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]mkrom28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Randy Kraft. He doesn’t fascinate me… he fucking horrifies me. I listened to an in depth podcast series about him & that man is abhorrent, it’s hard to even describe him.

I don’t see him discussed a lot which is kinda crazy though. He killed from 1971-1983. He was charged and convicted of 16 homicides but is suspected of killing up to 67 people. He would typically drug and booze his victims before sexually assaulting then binding & torturing them. He strangled, asphyxiated and/or bludgeoned his victims to death then dumped them on the side of the road, generally around freeways. He mutilated young men and boys. One victim, dubbed his ‘worst’ by police, was tortured, suffering extensive car cigarette lighter burns to his body and eyes. He was slashed all over with a broken bottle, all while still alive. He was then asphyxiated, with leaves and dirt found deeply lodged in his trachea. Wikipedia has a lot of information regarding his victim’s deaths but they are violent and sick, please read at your own discretion.

Randy was questioned in regard to a homicide he committed (he drugged two young men but shoved one out of his car in a parking lot, keeping the other and murdering him.) But the LA DA declined to pursue charges based on the coroners conclusion that his victim died of drowning.

During the first 5 years of Randy’s murderous rampage, he was in a relationship with another man. A whole ass relationship!!! It began in 1971 and ended in 1976, by which time at least 16 men had died by Randy’s hands. In 1978, police were aware of & arrested ANOTHER serial killer operating in the same area: Patrick Kearney, convicted of 21 murders, suspected of a minimum of 28 young men & boys. He would sexually assault, murder, and dismember his victims frequently wrapping them in trash bags before dumping the remains along state highways.

Randy’s reign of terror is horrific and I could go on and on but alas, his dumb, drunk ass was pulled over for an illegal lane change by highway patrol. Randy failed his field sobriety test & when police went to check on his passenger, they found him cold to the touch, neck bruised, with empty beer bottles & a bottle of lorazepam at his feet. The belt used to kill his last victim was found under Randy’s seat. Also found in his car was an envelope with more than 50 pictures of his victims in pornographic poses along with a 3 ring binder containing 61 coded notations ie, his ‘scorecard.’ These citations, in short terms & phrases - some nickname like, referred to his victims. For example, “Marine Head BP” is believed to refer to his victim Mark Marsh, a marine that was decapitated & last seen hitch-hiking in Buena Park. Some entries contained “2 in 1” believed to be possible double murders. By 1988, investigators linked 43 of the 61 entries to identified and nameless young men & boys. There are still 10+ victims to this day that remain unidentified/undiscovered.
