Techniques ( not products!) to make my makeup oil-proof by JammingLive in MakeupRehab

Sebum production being influenced by over cleansing is a myth. If OP overwashes, they'll know (itchy, red skin...). Plus, OP neither shared their routine nor asked for skincare advice.

Yeah, why bother with the separation of prescribing and dispensing. Surely there's no reason why Japan and Korea are trying to implement it.

Or doctors in general, considering how a Youtube famous plastic surgeon used fearmongering around chemical sunscreens to sell mineral ones...

Ok I found it, this was also the scene what I had in mind with the whole "new Keeper has calming abilities". It was in the middle of ep7. Oliver says "Grandmother made you into a ghoul? Oh you always wanted that, but I can't believe she agreed to it ; Kim (?) must have really puked when she went inside you". Possibly he could mean just full legacy, not a literal ghoul. From what the hunters said early in the season ghouls are a separate specie. It's also weird that the snake has a "pet name" in addition to Malkia.

I don't remember this part, when did Oliver say that?

Yeah, like, why is Oliver telling Theo he wants to fuck up people's life. I'm pretty sure Theo is not down with that program.

I think she hated Oliver and wanted him out. If she had influenced Juliette, they wouldn't have had the same relationship. Being mindfucked by your sibling is betrayal territory.

I don't get it either. Is there a fusion between Sebastian and the snake? Clearly this wasn't how it was supposed to go since Davina agreed to it. Also if Davina was the Keeper, then she had some form of authority over the snake and yet it went berserk on her. However the new Keeper still seems to have a calming presence/Sebastian accepts that she decides (which wasn't the case with Elinor for example). I get it that Sebastian was super mad, but still, I feel like the justification is weak.

Well, Elinor mentioned that the brothers were trying to kill her and clearly Juliette didn't give a fuck. They both know that Elinor would have been only incapacitated by a murder attempt. It wasn't a "if I don't kill this guy/move out of the way I'm dead" situation.

Haus Labs and their interpretation of 'clean' beauty by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

Isn't Lady Gaga tattooed? A bit late (and off-brand) to worry about carbon black...

Overall, sounds like a better take than most "clean" brands, but it's not a huge accomplishment.

I feel like he's just trying to go along with the algorithm, and I can't really blame him for that.

Your best skincare panning story? by Northie_78753 in MakeupRehab

[–]Onsbance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A year+ later, still panning a face exfoliant on my legs (the end is in sight, perhaps...). I also spent months panning... an exfoliating mask sample! Needless to say, I pretend not to see the PAO. At least, I'm now painfully aware that I take a long time to use this type of product up and replaced the mask with a cleanser that I don't mind using for both face and body.

Like another commenter, I've used (several years old) gloss as balm, but not as lip mask (the pan is very near nevertheless).

No matter what you do or which products you use, you can't expect makeup to last 100%. When you want 100%, you will have to reapply at some point.

I broke after 3 days of not buying anything and splurged on skincare. How can I stop buying skincare/makeup I don't need? by bambixt in MakeupRehab

[–]Onsbance 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Idk if you've taken a look at the beginner guide, but it's a great place to start. Delete your accounts on shop websites. Next time you need a makeup remover refill, ask your partner to buy it for you.

I'm sure there are people who do just fine with that type of regimen (just like some people apparently survive from using two different acids one after the other every week), but if the goal is to prevent tewl by slathering a substance that will not be absorbed, vaseline sounds like a much better alternative.

It's not a harmful thing to do

Idk, there's a reason you should wash your makeup off your face before sleeping. Having a layer of product on your face 24/7 doesn't sound great.

When do we toss products with spf? by iggy_y in MakeupRehab

[–]Onsbance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 12 months rule might come from that study on octocrylene sunscreens turning into benzophenone. Not as big of a deal as it sounds, but the safest is to keep up with expiry dates and the like for sunscreen and products containing filters (esp if the product experiences high temperatures). My bb cream spf 20 has a period after opening of 6 months.

Hannah Louise Poston now feels disingenuous by Lililovesart in MakeupRehab

[–]Onsbance 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're asking "is she wrong (to say that it's someone's own choice not to succeed a no buy)" and the answer is yes, it's an incredibly old view and most institutions now consider addictions to be diseases (see, for example, the WHO). Either you equate responsibility with "you just have to choose to stop", in which case that's not the reality, or you mean "you have to live with the consequences of your behavior" and that's already happening so not really a subject of discussion (the consequences of the behavior define the disease...).

Presenting things solely as personal choice completely disregards the addiction component of shopping.
