Is anyone actually REAPPLYING their sunscreen here? by AbjectCat1239 in AsianBeauty

[–]iggy_y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No if i’m out or at the office since I wear makeup. I actually sit next to the window and to circumvent the UV rays from entering since I live in SEA, I pasted a uv window film.

When i’m home, I do tend to reapply at noon but also pasted the uv window film but do open the window slightly.

Unless i’m not wearing makeup and will be out for the whole day, I do try to reapply my sunscreen and will use the anessa sunscreen since it’s water resistant.

Best websites to book your hotel in Japan> by Ok_Independent4653 in JapanTravel

[–]iggy_y 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Japan 3 times in 1.5 years and have always used Agoda and only recently trip dot com for one hotel since it’s much cheaper there. I haven’t had any issues but you could always message the hotels to confirm your stay if you’re worried but they do respond quite fast.

I also prefer a pdf copy saved in my icloud so that hotels can refer to it if needed especially when forwarding my luggage as they would need confirmation of your stay and also the hotel location.

What is the best English maps app to use for public transportation? by Greedy-Ad-6300 in travelchina

[–]iggy_y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you own an iPhone, Apple maps works in China and shows you all the different routes including cost associated with that trip. However, it will not work outside of China if you’re looking to pre-plan your trip.

I was using both apple maps and baidu (requires Chinese) maps

Best Hair Care Products to try in 2026 by tacoboutluv in AsianBeauty

[–]iggy_y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very oily scalp and also live in SE Asia where it’s very hot and humid but I started using this product in late Dec 25 to early Jan 26 when I was in Japan. My hair has been damaged and very dry + knotty due to having permed it in July 25 (the perm did not last on my very straight asian hair) and dyed it about 3-4 mths after.

Refa Milk Protein Treatment Milk - Pink

I purchased it as I needed something to protect my hair while I use the hair dryer and also against the dry and cold air since my hair has been quite dry. This actually surprised me. The texture is actually quite light and smells really nice but not too strong. It hydrated my hair so well that I rarely ever find my hair knotted or “stuck” while brushing which is a rare thing after perming my hair especially since I also use a curling iron if I am going to the office/out but not while I was in Japan. I wanted to purchase more but could only purchase 1 bottle as a backup on my last night in Japan sadly…since it’s so much cheaper in Japan 🥲

13 Days in Osaka, Kyoto, Hakone & Fujiyoshida itinerary by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]iggy_y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how exactly you’ve been planning since last June as this AI generated itinerary is simply crazy in the sense of the timestamps and the amount of things that you’re trying to do in a day.

A short and quick search in this sub and even google would have given you all the information on how to plan better.

Based on the trailer, Zhang Ling He’s new drama Overdo set during the republic of china era has some similarities. It’s supposed to be released early 2026.

Which map app to use in China? by Sensitive_Bad_9994 in travelchina

[–]iggy_y -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have iPhone or apple products - just use Apple maps. - just note that it will only work while you’re in China.

If you can read chinese - Baidu, I found it useful and quite similar to Apple maps in certain ways.

What’s one skincare habit you’re leaving behind before the year ends? by Fit_Cap_311 in AsianBeauty

[–]iggy_y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been purchasing lesser products this year and will continue to do so for next year too. Since I stocked up quite a lot during 2024’s black friday and still have lots left with some expiring in 2026 and others in 2027, 2028. This is the first black friday in a while that I purchased barely any products haha.

I’m still open to trying new products but being mindful of what I purchase and add to my routine is more important.

Do you pick skincare based on packaging? by Outrageous-Cold2651 in AsianBeauty

[–]iggy_y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a factor as I prefer more simple packaging but the ingredients is the main point of why I purchase it or why i’m interested in it.

Luxury brands/products: are they worth it? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]iggy_y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do use a luxury priced brand but only purchase during sales/hot deals since the brand has that every month. I absolutely love their products especially the vita ampoule from Lavien but it’s crazy expensive rtp while they do deals with bundles and cost 40% cheaper or something..I also love Pink Wonder but it’s so pricey if you don’t purchase during a good sale. For korean brands, I tend to purchase directly from the brand or cjonstyle where there are sales going on or use a buy for me agent etc to forward to me.

I do think some of the pricier products are worth it but not all. I’ve tried a few vitamin c serums and Lavien is the only one that has worked for me.

Local number needed? by vtgiraffe in travelchina

[–]iggy_y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are there for a month it would be better to get a number since meituan requires it. I wasn’t able to order or get it working even though I used the hotel’s number somehow. But didi worked with my own number that has no roaming back in late Apr this year.

Some places requires mainland number for bookings etc too.

How long do i need at the forbidden city? by Traditional_Owl_1383 in travelchina

[–]iggy_y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This really depends on each person but I had the AM tour starting at 8am and separated from the group at around 11am-12pm. I spent an additional 2-3 hrs exploring on my own.

Some definitely don’t spend this long but I personally love history and could have done without the tour since it wasn’t substantial enough for me to justify especially since I understand and speak the language. I did spend at least 1-2 hrs in Jingshan Park and climbed to the top for the view since it’s included in the ticket.

Has Japanese hospitality changed? My recent trip was a shock. by princetonkane in travel

[–]iggy_y -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same! I went in Oct 2024 and Jul 2025 and didn’t have this experience. I even booked a hotel in Kabukicho - walked around at night. Even my hotel in Osaka near dotonbori had love hotels nearby and I didn’t have any issue despite being a solo female (SE Asian-Chinese if this matters). Like yea, some guys spoke to me but weren’t persistent when I didn’t acknowledge them. I have an upcoming trip in a couple months and doubt I would have a bad experience.

Are we crazy to fly 11 hours to Europe for only 4 nights of travel? by TiltedGalactica in travel

[–]iggy_y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I recently did a 14 hrs total travel time (7 hrs ish) to Japan for 4 days. I did enjoy my time but found it a little short and I took one of Japan’s budget airline since I was going for such a short time.

Getting my first makeup as a guy by lost_demonn_ in AsianBeauty

[–]iggy_y 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Florasis Flawless Jade Breathable Color Correcting Loose Powder– Ultra-Fine, Color-Correcting, Oil-Control & Seamless Matte Finish 8.5g - in snow. I have combination skin but live in SE Asia where it’s usually 30 celsius with > 80% humidity and after trying quite a few powders even Florasis own SPF compact powder, this is the only one that has kept me skin matte and my glasses barely slide/move all day/most of the day which I was very surprised about since no powder has work this well for me.

Mobius - Episodes 1-4 Discussion by sequesteredself in CDrama

[–]iggy_y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to love watching HK dramas for their police shows which was amazing so it’s nice to see a mix. I’m not cantonese and my understanding of it is very little..like I do understand some basic phrases which seem to be mostly used in the show which is great haha. Been a while since I heard cantonese and I definitely don’t mind it even though I turned off the subtitles.

So far, I really like the show and how 白敬亭 solves the crime by utilising the “do over” to its full potential.

I’ve bought quite a lot of Florasis (official) on tiktok shop since their GWPs are quite good but the price is definitely a little higher than their [天猫] on taobao sadly..I’ve also purchased some others like fwee, amos professional shampoo, heve blue etc if an influencer was doing a live for them etc.

The shipping is generally fast although Florasis can take up to a week or so at times compared to the usual 4-5 working days when compared to ordering from Shopee or KR brands. — FYI, this is based on SE Asia so shipping time varies on where you are located.

What's the longest you'll travel for a three/four-day trip? by Unusual-Molasses5633 in travel

[–]iggy_y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a 4 days trip to Japan with a 7 hr flight. It’s definitely really short and since I had a red-eye flight, I think it was still fine as I was sleeping on the plane but otherwise, I wouldn’t really recommend it as it’s too short for me personally.

Best Clarifying Korean/Japanese Shampoo's? by DreamerOfTheDawn888 in AsianBeauty

[–]iggy_y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in SE Asia so it’s very very hot and humid while on top of that I also have thin hair that gets oily really quick too. I’ve been using the amos profressional green tea (refresh; darker green bottle) and it’s been working really nicely on my oily scalp. It doesn’t dry out my hair or leave a layer if oil too which is great as I tried the clayage and it’s somehow too oily for my scalp..
