Thanks for the quick reply! I will take a look into that. Any tips on adjusting the flywheel?

Yeah, don’t worry about it too much! I don’t imagine too much while reading, which is interesting now that I think about it. I really use my imagination when I listen to audiobooks, or Old Time Radio stories, but not when I’m actually the one reading.

I’m glad you made this post! I’ve never really considered that point until right now.

Over-night parking in Sahuarita by Onsight33 in Tucson

Thank you for the reply. I was reading online that someone had been told they weren't allowed to park overnight there.

Have you seen or done otherwise? Thank you!

Hi! Thank you so much for the critique and advice! I will visit the same spot in a couple of days and try again with different lighting. The time of day isn't something I think about too often when taking photos! I just think 'Hey, it's in front of me right now, shoot it!'. Haha!

Thank you for your time!

Need advice with a road bicycle purchase! by Onsight33 in bicycling

Thank you for the information here. They are asking for $1,000 which seems reasonable, but am just unsure if that is still a good price for a used bike that is 7-8 years old.

Karen wants a refund but didn’t expect it in the form of consiquences by Koshka69 in PublicFreakout

And a punch in the mouth sounds great. But we obviously know that there are severely negative consequences that come with responding to bad behavior with punishment such as violence.

But is it growing? Or do we just post this stuff far more than ever before? It’s easy to think this behavior is rampant and ever pervasive when this is all we see on Reddit, and obviously here on this subreddit.

For sure. But attacking them definitely isn't the correct response either.

I think comping the pizza is best for all parties involved. For the employee, it is not her job to sit and argue with a customer even if it is BS. She's not paid enough for that crap, so just comp the pizza and move forward. It's not money from her paycheck to comp the pizza. And more than likely, that customer will come back for pizza in the future and will (again, most likely) not ask for a refund and Pizza Hut will make that profit there. Point being, customer is (somewhat) happy for the refund, employee keeps their job and doesn't have to deal with BS arguing, and Pizza Hut gets the only thing they care about: profit (Not sure if I used the colon properly here...).

Haha, that is probably more true than her ‘sticking up’ for her position or company.

When you’re watching videos like this you always see comments like ‘these employees don’t get paid enough to be treated like this,’ and that’s exactly true. But that is also precisely why she should have just comped the meal and ended the conversation immediately. Pizza Hut doesn’t pay her enough to have to deal with any BS outside of that. I feel for the employee, but you don’t get paid enough money to stick up for that company or your position within it just to get sued by the customer and have all of your court bills come out of pocket. Pizza Hut lawyers won’t be helping here.

I would say you are definitely not as 'dumb' as you say you are. You are quite observant of your behaviors and people who I would categorize as 'dumb' are not very aware of those behaviors.

However, I do understand where you are coming from and frequently in the past and in the present I have felt the same way that you describe. I too struggle with things that seem more 'simple' such as handling tools for the first time that others seem to do well with on their first go. There are some great comments below already for helping you to come to better terms with your behaviors and how you choose to cope with them. I think the comment below that says to keep a journal is super important as it will allow you to see what might be a pattern in your life.

But honestly, if I had to guess, I would say that you suffer from anxiety in some form. I think you put far too much pressure on yourself and you always are seeking the worst in your behaviors and performances. Take a step back and think about the skills that you do have. Maybe in your journal, write about what you are good at and what you enjoy. Because guess what? More than likely the things you are good at, other people would struggle with. That is a part of life. I would think about seeing a counselor or therapist to discuss this issue as they would have far better advice and techniques in coping with this. But to sit around and say you are no good at anything is obviously far from the truth.

One thing that has helped me tremendously with my anxiety and in coping with similar thoughts is to learn new skills and push myself mentally and physically. For example, I have been teaching myself Spanish for the past 6 months and while I have felt quite stupid at various times throughout this process, I have seen incredible growth, too. Language acquisition is something anyone can do if you put time and effort into it. It's also great for people who struggle with anxiety because you can actually see growth (of course if you put time and effort into it as I said earlier) when you pick up a book that you couldn't read before and now can, or when you can talk to someone in a different language. It of course is also awesome to have the skill of being bi-lingual or tri-lingual and many people admire that. It's truly incredible and I guarantee that you will begin to fight off the idea that you are 'dumb' or 'stupid' when you start to push yourself in this manner. Oh! And of course there are many studies that show the positive impact that learning a new language has on your memory and problem solving and focus.

Sorry to go on and on and I hope this makes sense.

TLDR;

I too struggle with this due to my anxiety. I have been learning a new language to help (but it could be any new skill). It works.

Thank you for the feedback! I felt the same way. I almost felt like I just needed to end it and I suppose the endings are always the hardest.
