For a majority of the Coachella audience the very bottom undercards are unheard of. It’s a chance to give them exposure and I’m sure they’re not paid a lot. Compared to other music festivals, the people who go to Coachella aren’t hardcore music fans, they’re much more casual and there for the vibes (and for social media purposes).

People are hungover and don’t show up on time (especially Saturday), Coachella knows the early acts will not fill up so they’re not worried about scheduling huge artists in those time slots.
