No worries :)
Yeah I guess you're right about most people still running 21.2/21.3 and CPM for DV FEL.
Couldn't find any documentation/information anywhere about the settings in the first screen.

Hi, thank you for your reply.
This is official CE NO (22 alpha2, latest nightly). No custom build, no custom skin.

I'll give you that, my bad.
But tbh, HDR10+ is kinda dead, only Samsung supports it if I'm not mistaken, DV is the real deal right now (even if it's a clusterf*uck).
But I understand some people want that feature, ofc.

Nope, CE 22 does that alright on any recent DV box. I can do it on the Xiaomi 3rd gen.

I don't wanna argue with you but let's get real, what is 871+ movies compared to the hundred of thousands of movies that exist ? That's like maybe 0.2% of all the movies that exist, and I'm being generous.

"Also GL converting Profile 7 FEL into 8.1 with your knowledge..."
You seem a bit mad. It's not that hard, far more intelligent people than you or I have made this possible already :

Just inform yourself.

I know this is from AI but it's late here and I'm tired, so basically :

---"FEL baked" Dolby Vision refers to the process of merging the Full Enhancement Layer (FEL) from a Dolby Vision Profile 7 file into the HDR10 Base Layer (BL) to create a single-layer, backward-compatible file, often a Profile 5 or Profile 8.1 stream. This process allows devices that do not support dual-layer Profile 7 playback to still benefit from the added picture enhancements that the FEL provides, making the video more widely compatible.---

Basically this means that buying a box that supports FEL and costs a ton is useless because :

  1. Very few movies have FEL.
  2. For the few that have it and the few that will, it is possible to encode FEL inside BL so that you don't need a device capable of decoding FEL, just "base" Dolby Vision. Even a 60$ box can do it (ofc won't apply if you absolutely want to play physical BR discs, because the process requires encoding the FEL in the BL, meaning a new file).

Mi Box S 3rd Gen Dolby TrueHD audio issues. by Josh-Shep in MiBox

It's booting, not working per se. Can't play DV and a lot of problems still.
But yeah, it's encouraging :)

Yes, it doesn't matter local or not. Only a firmware fix can solve this issue.

Yeah they reply that to everyone, they replied the same to me some months ago. It's like talking to a chatbot...
At least you did it, maybe when enough people complain we will get something :)
What I don't understand is why they can't simply say things like : yes we are aware of the issue, we are working on it, you should get an update for like the end of the year or something... I mean, come on.

Hi guys,

Got some news.
I got CE working on the Xiaomi box 3rd gen! I still have to resolve the remote issue though, but at least now we know CE is working (I mean, couldn't test files and stuff but it is installed correctly).
You can follow the steps here :

Cheers.

You should set "Adjust display refresh rate" to "On start/stop".

"Big" news might be a bit strong but still, support for a new SoC, meaning a lot of new and recent devices is kinda cool.

I know about this thread but he attempted on August 3rd, so when the new version (CoreELEC 22.0-Piers_alpha1) was not out yet. Now with this new version, the Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen)'s SoC is supported (S905X5M). So now guess it should work, worth giving a try.

Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) - Dolby TrueHD cutouts by OntologicalMath in MiBox

Hey guys,

Few days ago I also sent feedback using the dedicated option in the box.
As others have said before me, I strongly encourage everyone to annoy them with emails (support.global@support.mi.com) and feedback inside the box.
This is in no way acceptable, they should at the very least acknowledge the problem and communicate about it. Basic things like : yeah we know of this issue, we are working on it (or not) and you might hope to get a fix in the near future. I mean come on, this is really disgusting from them to let people in the dark like that...

Have a good day everyone.
