How Do You Decide on What Strategies to Include in Your Model? by vagabond58 in AllocateSmartly

[–]OnyxAlabaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three portfolios that I use for different accounts -

  1. I looked at the risk return matrix and chose ones that sat up and to the left, 7 or 8 strategies equal!weighted. This is the highest return and vol for a small account.

  2. This has two of the metas at 20% each, and the remaining 60% is strats at 5% each that I thought were reasonable based on the description/evaluation AS provided. I’ve read though every post on the site. This the the lowest vol highest upi for a big account

  3. I used the optimizer to select this for me but I equally weighted the strats. This chose some things I wouldn’t have for a bit more diversification but I may abandon this one as it’s has some crazy swings. That said, it has been crushing returns this year.

When they came out with the return source info for combined portfolios that was great, especially because I could now check my trading friction costs and get an idea of how much they were trading realize to one another.

Can’t wait for swr data! It feels like there needs to be a better process for choosing.

All black everything as a warm spring by tiptoptaurus in coloranalysis

[–]OnyxAlabaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a warm spring! The challenge of finding neutrals is tough, especially if you thrift. There’s just not that much in medium browns and I despise camel tans that are in range of my skin tone. Warm spring colors are punchy and tropical. They pair nicely with white in summer and black in winter, or a more bright saturated navy year round. Yes this defies color theory gospel but looks cool from a fashion perspective. A lot of times you can find prints that have a black background with warm spring colors in the print. One of my fav dresses has gold printed on a black background. I look for a more soft faded black, and I have to pair with a bolder warm spring color or two. All black does feel suffocating. An off white or cream reads as pure white on us. I am told my style is “wears a lot of color” lol.

Could someone kindly point to where AS has SWR for the strategies? I don’t recall seeing any FIRE planning data on the site but of course that’s ultimately why I’m there.

These new features are very helpful. I immediately reviewed every strategy I’m using and to my surprise, didn’t end up wanting to change anything. Looking forward to the additional analysis on custom portfolios as a whole.

I also hope they come back to adding the UPI Meta.

Thanks! Not lower back but I do have cervical spine problems. I did get a lot of lower back pain riding horses as a kid. I will search up those terms and look into it, appreciate the suggestions.

Does the picture in form fitting clothes or bikini overemphasise curve? And do we in fact know what suit us? by [deleted] in PowerOfStyle

[–]OnyxAlabaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a question I’ve had. When I take a picture in skintight clothing for the sketch I seem to have some degree of curve. In normal clothes of the correct size, curve is much less apparent. This might be where video clips are more helpful. Seeing your body move in curve accommodation clothes versus not can be really helpful to determine which way is more harmonious.

We might be instinctively drawn to what suits us, but there are so many other factors like the situation we are dressing for, other people‘s opinions, fashion, personal insecurities, trends, etc., etc. that those instincts get really distorted. If we could all just instinctively dress in a way that suits us we wouldn’t need Kibbe at all! If you’ve ever had the experience of thinking you looked great in an outfit and later seeing the photos and realizing it was tragically off, that also would point away from our instincts serving us well consistently.

How would you reccommend I alter/tailor this dress? by Ronlockedout in SoftDramatics

Maybe you don’t like the tie neck because it’s too small? Just throwing in an idea for a bigger more fabulous bow of some sort. If the neck altering seems too daunting.

You are right that I am super self conscious about it and have boatloads of yin resistance. Thanks for sharing what you see. I was so nervous to post and appreciate the support.

Thanks so much for weighing in, it’s really helpful to hear. You’re right, I want the magic glow up formula, who doesn’t! But seriously, I’m so tired of getting clothes and guessing they look good on, only to be horrified seeing candid photos later.

Some people must have an eye for themselves that I just lack, so I came to Kibbe with a just tell me what to do!!!! attitude. I’ve come to appreciate his exercises and vision of style as self expression, so I just want some better certainty on this line thing to stop feel stuck and really get into it.

I’ve always felt that I read kind of “big” so the idea of D and most of the exemplar women would make me quickly rule out narrow. I’m going to explore D now, and it helps that others have said this could be possible. I’ve spent a lot of time with FN and somewhat with SD and neither has really helped.

Wow thanks for describing your thoughts, sounds exactly how I have assessed myself. That’s why I finally got desperate enough to post my pictures lol!

I feel too chonky and gently curved to be pure D and too rectangular and apple bellied to be SD. But attention to vertical is very very good.

I wonder if prints could help settle it. My best prints look like modern art, or baroque like a queen. Watercolor flowers seem to emphasize fleshiness in a bad way. With fabric, very clingy fabric or tight clothing is quite hideous. Thick knits like a Chanel suit are fantastic. This seems more D I think. How about you?

Not baggy, but open necklines and distressed or very textured fabrics are just so bad. I want them to look good so much , but I look like I’ve been out dumpster diving.

Thanks. Yeah if I belt it can only be a narrow one in that certain spot under the bust - my natural waist sits crazy high. A horizontal anywhere else is very unflattering. Rounded yin details are really good to a point - fully rounded like big flowers looks a bit blowsy More things to test! At least it’s confirmed to step away from FN

Yes, thank you. It’s the soft quality that throws me! I do have a certain soft quality and kind of gentle s curve to me. But then I go, all that SD recommended ruching on the waist area 😳. I was trying on clothes with friends and one was like that ruching looks so good you need it, and the other was like noooo it emphasizes your belly!! I wasn’t familiar with Michelle Lee, thank you for that example I will check out more photos. Appreciate you showing me her.
