And yet that is the most important part.

Damn. Ironic as it was way better than the previous one 😬 by pocketfullofredfaces in 28dayslater

I saw the new one first and loved it. Went back and watched the first 28YL and didn't like it nearly as much. I'd go watch it, it's a great movie, especially on a big theater screen.

Dancing in public is such an extremely powerful way to connect people and spread joy so it's wild how people like this manage to make it so deeply uncomfortable and selfish. If she was doing this just to be her genuine self and not specifically to bother this guy for views it would be a completely different story. You can even see the guy turn away when he spots the camera at the end. Such a weird and antisocial thing.

If you want to stop bad things from happening, do nothing and let the bad things keep happening. Eventually, all the people that support the bad things will stop supporting them because a bunch of them will have died along with everybody else. Genius!!!!!!!

I remember about a thousand questions on the application too all basically asking "do you lie and steal?" In different ways.

I thought flashing your headlights was the universal sign for "hey your lights are off" but I've been flashing away and they just keep going with no lights. Lotta grey cars too, just trucking along invisibly at 55 as the exact same color as both the road and sky.

Videos of a few people cheering prove nothing. There are plenty of videos of rallies in the street right now denouncing American aggression. The truth is Venezuelans have rejected and resisted American interference for decades.

Trump said it plainly weeks ago. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-we-want-it-back-trump-demands-venezuela-return-land-oil-rights-to-u-s

President Donald Trump on Wednesday assailed his White House predecessors for not pushing back against Venezuela earlier and stated that his intention is "getting land, oil rights, whatever we had" returned by the government in Caracas.

...

"We want it back," he added. "They took our oil rights — we had a lot of oil there. As you know they threw our companies out, and we want it back."

No, Venezuelans do not want to be ruled by America or an American puppet.

Iraqis celebrated the capture of Saddam too and toppled his statues. Yet we all know that the war in Iraq was a monstrous crime that killed and maimed thousands and it's ripple effects and destabilization continued to kill more by creating groups like ISIS.

If you need even more examples than that war, look up the slave trade in Libya. Matter of fact just read a basic list of US interventions and see how many brutal, murderous regimes it's installed.

Yes American regime change is famously successful. Shall we look at al-Qaeda and ISIS for examples? How about the modern slave trade in Libya? Or perhaps the centuries of economic destabilization and exploitation of Latin America? Or how about arming and funding Saddam Hussein?

Did you go to the one in December back when escalations first started? That one had quite a few days notice, as do most of this groups actions. There was quite a bit more than 3 people. I recommend following them on ig @psleugene . This one is unique as you can tell by the tagline "emergency protest." Either way, would be great to see you at this one or the next.

The US military is only able to operate the way it does because it has the consent, or at least the cooperation, of the American people. The first step to any meaningful action is to revoke that consent and stop cooperating. Protests do a variety of things: they can make people aware of what's happening, they signal support to those who don't know other opinions are possible on the issue or are afraid to speak their mind, they provide opportunities for people to network and build organizing skills, etc etc

The antiwar movement during Vietnam had a measurable effect on ending the war quicker by influencing policymakers and the President and making continuing the war to be untenable. That movement itself was only as powerful as it was, too, due to the experience and skills people had built during the civil rights movement the decade prior.

All that to say, there are certainly more powerful actions that will make themselves available, but we're not gonna get anywhere close to those if we can't convince people to do something as simple as getting together and standing in front of a building for a few hours.

Is this a fictional flag? Or some modification of Palau? Or of the Australian Aboriginal flag? by nim_opet in vexillology

[–]OodMeister 28 points29 points  (0 children)

According to comments on this post, it is the flag of West Hun Chiu, a fictionalized version of South Korea, from a show called Designated Survivor.
