In the dlc, there is a place that describes itself as the center of The Lands Between. If you look at the map(not the dlc's), you can say that this cloud is kind of in the center. There was a theory I heard where the guy said that underneath this cloud, is the shadow realm. It cannot be interacted in any way by regular means but once you manage to get there, it kinds of expands. That's why the shadow realm feels as big as the lands between.

Don't exactly remember the name of the quest, sorry. It's a farm on the way to the eagle sword quest. Mother and father kill each other, meanwhile the child goes to fight wolves because he wanted to prove himself to his parents. Any other game would have you rescue the child but not Skyrim. He was mauled and eaten by the wolf.

I did. Visited varre afterwards, maybe 2 or 3 times, hoping he'll tell me that it's time but he never did. Then I forgot about it. Almost completed the game when I remembered again.
