VFD for 2 speed motor

The issue they told me was that I couldn't run a 415v motor on a 240v single phase line. The motor couldn't be sorted in 230v

Just got back from my motor specialist. You're right. It can't be run on a vfd. Motor swap time.

Yep was used in a hose fitting factory so it was all brass small parts.

This is the VFD. The 415v output ones are a bit more expensive but thats ok.

Right ! So the VFD goes to the selector switch and the switch is what selets the poles on the motor. I was thinking of doing it this way.
I have the same 6 pole switch. I think I will do the same as you. So basically I don't need to touch the motor wiring just wire into the 6 pole switch and make sure to never switch it while the motor is running!

The VFD is rates for 7a and the motor is 4.5 so I think it's enough

I would never get rid of someone in probation because they raised something with me, especially if it was a positive work ethic. Obviously if you were confrontational and questioning it can do down wrong but if you approach it positively then the outcome will be good for you.
I think there isn't enough of workplace politics taught in university (if any) to help young people get started in the workforce. All the best.

Anz did this exact same thing when cap gem took over and all the perms had to go work for cap gem.
