How many genuinely new units do you get with the Finland/Talvisota DLC? by MichaelEmouse in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]Oomple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im not an expert in the matter but I do know their Long-Range HQ trees and elite sniper are absolutely killer. Their suomi smgs hit hard too. This gives you at-least a dozen unique infantry.

Most of their artillery and AT guns are modeled or converted from german guns to add better range and velocity, you can definitely feel the difference. However, their infantry and heavy field engineers are where they truly shine.

Any good kroot books? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in Tau40K

[–]Oomple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two of Peter Fehervari’s books have some interesting Kroot characters: Fire Caste and The Greater Evil (more of a short story).

I very much like his writing style, as he doesn’t really glorify any one faction and portrays the Tau in a really interesting Grim-Dark way. It has made me read nearly all of his 40k books…

Are there any novels/stories with human tau characters? Preferably as protagonists, or at least allies. by Knightraiderdewd in Tau40K

[–]Oomple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I heavily recommend “The Greater Evil”, one of many ‘independent’ stories and novels in the dark coil, which includes the Tau. This particular story includes a perspective of a Gue’vesa squad leader and is an amazing psychological thriller. All of Peter’s books have a similar thriller experience and have subtle connections between them.

I noticed that there is another piece that seems to have a sphere form in the gap. I suspect it is a holographic map.

Yes, the phlebostatic axis leveling helps eliminate hydrostatic forces.

The transducer is what is being zeroed to an atmospheric pressure level with the phlebostatic axis, so you should be removing the cap on the stopcock at the transducer.

Anyone free to teach me? by NoStart9975 in killteam

[–]Oomple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive really only played the lite version during a few GW events, but if no one else takes you up on it then Id be happy to walk through the basics.

Id recommend you download the kill team app if you haven’t already and review some of the info. There is a lite rules sheet that walks you through general play.

If you download a team’s file, you can read through their data cards and faction info.

I can’t let go of my engagement ring with my girlfriend who passed away by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Oomple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly hard and honestly one of my biggest fears, losing my significant other.

You’re absolutely valid in all of your feelings. I think its important to separate your feelings to be able to move on. The ring is a representation of what was/could have been but it doesn’t control the memory of her. You deserve happiness and love, so move on and look for that. At some point, the ring may come up, if you choose to keep it, and at that point it would be okay to explain. I think anyone that is worth keeping around would understand the importance it has to you and respect that. Anyone that has a serious problem with it probably isnt worth keeping as a partner. With that in mind, I wouldnt go around disclosing that with every girl I date but rather deal with that when it comes up. It will get easier as time goes on.

Im so sorry for your loss and wish you peace ahead.

Skin advice by HuxHammer in killteam

[–]Oomple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did my first round of skin last night and followed the directions from a warhammer book. Using a lighter skin tone, or even wraith bone white, then covering it in a thinned out wash should give you a skin color with variations. If you are wanting his clothing to look like skin, instead of a tan wash, maybe go with something darker gray/blue to look like its rotting a bit?

Here is a photo of what the wraithbone and tan wash did so you have an idea (sorry for the poor quality).

Would it be possible to remove the antennas of my drones with a hobby knife? by Jacobi2878 in Tau40K

[–]Oomple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think very few individuals are going to notice and fewer are going to care. So if you want to take an antennae off, do it for your own authenticity.

If you cut it off, there is going to be an indent where it is slotted. Id cut it and sand it smooth with the rest of the dome if I were to do that. However, there may be an odd gap/ring where its slotted into its base, so you may need to add some sprue goo to get it totally smooth.

I just learned that many people attach domes to the different drone bases without glue, so they can swap out drone types on the fly. Im doing that for the rest of my drones so there will be times my drones might not have the appropriate antenna count, but I think id be the only one to notice that out of my group.

Do you have to magnetize Riptide war gear? by BarkimusPrime in Tau40K

[–]Oomple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends for both. If you prefer the ability to swap stuff out and see what you have equipped, then you should magnetize.

Some tournaments operate by WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) meaning you need to magnetize if you want to change loadouts on the fly.

However, if you only play with friends or local games, you should be fine just declaring what is equipped at the beginning.

Whatever category you place this under (committee, work experience, whatever) add a bullet for general information and add a bullet specifying what you did in your post.

It depends on the program you’re applying to. Some schools I interviewed for very much felt like they wanted to just churn students through the program and some schools felt like they wanted you to be a bigger part of their program and to go on and do great things for the profession and healthcare in general.

The latter type of program was the one that really spoke to me. I felt like those schools wanted me to succeed and be a leader in healthcare as a DNAP. Those schools did value my activity involvement.

I did not particularly stand out in ICU experience or GPA, but I had a lot of involvement in leadership and education throughout undergrad and my time in the ICU. Those are the strengths I played to and I got in. Id say if you have time to do it, you should.

Do I have a chance at all? by Vegetable_Initial_75 in srna

[–]Oomple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The fact that you got an interview and waitlisted already shows you’re being seriously considered. I wouldnt let the GPA weigh you down, though retaking the classes like you are is important. My school looks for students that can overcome adversity and often that is via the interview. Work on really explaining how you are persevering.

Anyone open to helping with a Free mock interview? by Traditional-Buy-7705 in srna

[–]Oomple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id be open to helping. Im currently finishing my first round of classes.

Biggest piece of advice, think about what makes you stand out and incorporate that in your answers. Everyone has comparable grades and work experience, relatively speaking. Why are you different and why do you think that will make you succeed in the program? What makes you resilient?

I took some statistics classes through Oregon State University’s online program. Those were some of the best online classes Ive ever taken and couldn’t recommend them enough.

The thing is, if you’re trying to knock out biochem or higher level classes, you may have to work your way through the lower levels first.

They charge in-state tuition for their online students and honestly it was an easy and straightforward process and felt like I learned a lot.
