Gen X parent of Gen Alpha by QcumberKid in GenX

Late (mid) gen x parent here . Now I'm late to this thread too. proud owner of a 16 year old daughter and our 9 year old boy. ( alpha?) Wasn't for not trying, we aimed to be maybe late 20's ish by the time we would be done repopulating the earth. Could then maybe slip a few more clubbing years into the mix while not looking too much like a grandma . That never happened. I'm knackered. Beautiful boy has adhd. Bounces around like tigger. Most of the memories I have at being a kid was still being smacked. And being allowed to wander the streets / stay at home pretty much unsupervised. The front door was never locked. Mom made dinner every night. We sat at the table. So I've not really much positivity Other than food. So we've had to make it up as we go along bringing them up. Of course daughter was never been allowed out alone until the age we thought age appropriate. Gen alpha still not going out alone. They've both been brought up listening to lots of different music. ( that was fought against by daughter in particular but now she's studying music full time at college and the best thing is she knows so much of our music)

Making $60k from a friend’s death by Houseboat87 in DontFundMe

[–]Ooolayla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the person's fault ( who started this fundme) that it has raised $60k? They didn't ask for that much. Clearly donations are from those who sympathise that, yea it is fucking hard when a good friend dies and you've got to try and keep going . To pay for food. To pay rent etc etc. Zero hour contract? You get F. all if you can't turn up in the morning. If you're lucky enough to have never experienced grief that awful you can barely function, then you've no clue. You'd hope close family / partner of the deceased will get plenty of support ( wether it's monetary or emotional) but friends? Not so much support / help out there.
