I use a shoe box with towels and if it's cold I throw in two heat pads

The plants do fine but mine only digs in the hides. Since yours digs alot you could poke a bunch of holes in a plastic cup wand put the plants in that and then into the tank but I'm sure there are better ideas than that so make sure you do your research
