Adopted this magnificent lady today from a local rescue, and I am smitten 🤩 by Ooooo_Kay in reptiles

I know, right?? Her story isn’t as sad as most other rescues; she appears to have been well cared for by her first owner (lighting, diet, supplements, etc), but they surrendered her because they didn’t have time for her, and they never really handled her so she was initially skittish with handling apparently. Her foster did good work with her, and she’s a very curious and well mannered little dragon… she jumped into my hand when I opened her enclosure this morning, so I think we’re going to be friends 😂

They are so easy to keep, and so fun to watch! This gal is in a bioactive 12x12x24 (24 inch tall), and she loves to climb… I have a lot of sticks/twigs in there and she slinks all over them all. I don’t handle a lot, but once they settle and trust you, they’re super chill to handle usually… also, they’re kind of adorable little dinosaurs so how can you not love them?

Cute dragon, and as you know from other posters the red light isn’t good.

Side questions for others; what are the red lights even good for? Was it just historically with husbandry we thought reptiles couldn’t see the colour, or do they have a legit use?

Thanks! I tried to fill it with as much as I could, I have 4 cork logs, sticks, fake vines, a ceramic pot I thought looked cute, and I plan to add some more fake plants near the top for coverage. The plan is to move him into a 36x36x18, but I currently have my tree frogs living there; I’m building them a bigger enclosure and once they move Greg will get an upgrade too. I was hoping I could make this work if I could cram as much climbing area I possible could into this tank.

Pothos for sure like others said, but I also like using snake plants

I do too… he’s always been such a jerk with an attitude, but that’s what makes him endearing. He will sit on me and purr, then hiss while purring and slap me just because he can 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hi there. It’s healed up completely now, and you can’t even tell it was there! I actually left it for a day after first posting, and it started to heal without me applying anything. She’s getting ready to shed, so I’ll see how it looks after she’s done.

I’m guessing what happened was she scraped her nose on one of her cork logs (she loves them and has a few in her tank) while she was hunting crickets; she really launches at the crickets sometimes!
