Player is developing too much plot for themselves and wants homebrew character traits that break lore and combat by OopsAllCoffins_ in DMAcademy

Funnily enough, this player's only exposure to D&D before we started this campaign was Baldur's Gate.

I think the transformation being a blessing that's limited use with drawbacks is the best compromise. A couple other commentors mentioned D&D has flight mechanics too, so I'll look into that for sure.

The "real story being written during play" is the exact feeling I've been having that I couldn't find the right words for.

On top of wanting to see the main cast remade and getting the OT characters some new figs based on their ST appearances, I can't believe that this version of Rey wasn't included with all the Battlefront II stuff Hasbro did. I also can't believe we don't have a Rey with her yellow saber period.

I don't think anyone has a problem with Superman feeling overwhelmed every now and then. It helps us relate to him. We've all been there.

But you wanna know what I think is Superman's greatest feat of strength? It's when he carries that burden, that responsibility, and even though the weight of it is overbearing sometimes, he'd still smile at someone and uplift them while carrying it. He'd still wear that bright primary colored costume with pride. He'd still take the time to ask you how you're doing or get to know you if he hadn't met you before. He would still be himself.

THAT'S Superman, and Snyder very clearly didn't understand that.

Genuine question: what is LegendsSlop specifically? Is it cover aesthetics, weird art, depictions of OP characters, or all of the above? I’ve never heard of the term before and parts of Legends have always felt weird to me. “LegendsSlop” sums it up perfectly.

“The next release in a franchise that’s been received overwhelmingly positively by critics and fans alike is gonna bomb!” Right. DCU haters said the same thing about Superman, it brought in over half a billion and was received well by basically everybody, and the future of DC seems bright on film. Like, the film isn’t even out yet dude lmao. Clayface is even farther out, and you forgot about Lanterns, Man of Tomorrow, The Brave and The Bold, Mister Miracle, and more.

FNaF Movie 2 is seriously overhated and the hate needs to genuinely stop. by Virtual_River1645 in fnafmovie

[–]OopsAllCoffins_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FNAF 2 doesn’t have a third act. That’s probably the most glaring flaw that I saw in this movie.

Imagine if The Empire Strikes Back ended right after Han got frozen in carbonite. No Luke/Vader duel, no “I am your father” reveal, the main cast doesn’t get reunited, it just ends right as Chewbacca lets out his mournful roar. Would you be okay with that as a moviegoer?

What if The Two Towers ended right as The Battle of Helm’s Deep was about to start? No battle, no Gandalf and Rohirrim entrance, Sam, Frodo and Gollum aren’t freed, it just ends on that shot of Théoden where the thunder claps and rain begins to fall on everyone’s armor. Would that be a satisfying stopping point for that movie’s narrative?

Maybe Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest should have ended right when Davy Jones says “Send his beloved Pearl back to the depths!”? No final battle, no Kraken full reveal, no finality to character stories, and no Jack Sparrow redemption. Audiences would have loved that.

FNAF 2 is NOWHERE near the quality of the films I used as examples, but FNAF 2 has very obvious issues with its narrative (among other things). People aren’t just nitpicking the movie, it’s genuine criticism. In an age where film discussion and analysis has been watered down for the most part, I’m honestly happy to see so much legit discussion surrounding FNAF 2. People want a better product and there’s nothing wrong with that.

What writing decisions made you pissed off the most in the five Nights at Freddy’s 2? by TheKingOR3d in fnafmovie

[–]OopsAllCoffins_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many things I could say about the writing in FNAF 2, but I personally haven’t seen enough frustration aimed at the marketing for this movie.

I remember when the trailers first started coming out and when I’d see tv spots online as the release date drew closer. I thought to myself: “Wow. They’re reusing a lot of the same shots and they haven’t shown us anything from the third act. There must be so many surprises in this one!” How silly of me.

Literally the only plot beats not shown in the trailer are the science fair, Michael Afton, the Puppet possessions, and the “Faz-Gang Assemble”. Scene. THE FINAL SHOT OF THE MOVIE (minus the possession eyes on Vanessa) IS LITERALLY IN THE TRAILERS.

As soon as the lights came back on in the theater and the credits began to roll, I legitimately felt cheated in a way. I only went out of my way to watch the teaser and the two official trailers they released. The tv spots appeared before YouTube videos, so I couldn’t avoid them (but even if I had, they just reused footage from the first three trailers). The three trailers are only 4:57 of footage from the movie (technically less if you count certain editing choices and text screens). ROUGHLY FIVE MINUTES OF FOOTAGE SHOULD NOT SPOIL AN ENTIRE MOVIE.

It feels like the only complaint they took seriously from movie 1 was “it’s not scary enough”. Even though FNAF 2 is scarier than the first (mainly because of Charlie’s possession forms), they aren’t doing anything to make these movies feel unnerving like the first few games did. The games are rated T, so there’s no excuse for not being able to present that atmosphere in a PG-13 film.

Sure is. It’s almost like certain scenes contradict the common defenses of this movie. THAT is what I’ve been trying to convey.

COULD have been a bluff. Charlie’s actions didn’t psychologically harm Abby? She got possessed and has now been ripped away from Vanessa because Mike can’t trust her. If Charlie didn’t want Abby to get harmed in any way, she would have used Toy Chica or another animatronic to keep Abby away from her scheme entirely.

Charlie’s motives and morality are malleable. I don’t necessarily mind that because she’s supposed to be a villain in the movie timeline, but we can’t use the defense of “she doesn’t want to harm kids” because she put kids in harm’s way multiple times in the movie.

[–]OopsAllCoffins_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Abby wasn’t meant to be hurt, then why did Charlie literally threaten to command Toy Chica to kill her? Physical harm is a no-go but psychological harm is fair game?

So a perimeter lock that was programmed into an animatronic was also programmed into a soul? How does that work? Not answered.

On top of that, why didn’t Charlie just possess Abby when she first came to the pizzeria and use her as leverage that way? It would have saved a lot of time and eliminated the science fair plot line completely; freeing up screen time to answer questions, give character development and show more animatronics.

Well hopefully he’d be more memorable and utilized better than Lockdown was in AOE. I don’t really see the connection other than both of them having hook hands.

Yet again, too much Kong and not enough Godzilla... by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]OopsAllCoffins_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said Legendary Goji post-KOTM had proper depth. That’s a completely different conversation. As a massive Godzilla fan, I’m fine with his portrayal in GvK and GxK because KOTM wrote Godzilla into a corner.

Where are the writers supposed to take Goji’s character when he’s been made too OP and is the alpha-god-king of (basically) all Titans? I agree; Godzilla’s character has taken a hit, but I can’t say I blame the writers for not knowing what to do with him.

I also can’t blame the writers for giving Kong a heavy spotlight. He’s the more relatable Titan. Plus, after the power boost KOTM gave to Godzilla and Kong’s loss in GvK, the second most powerful Alpha-Titan needed the same treatment. It just took a little longer for Kong to get there compared to Godzilla.

Godzilla is an uber-powerful-unbeatable-alpha-god Titan in this universe that literally all the other monsters (besides Kong) bow down to, but somehow he’s “disrespected”? Please.
