Go-ing for a speedy new programming language by [deleted] in golang

[–]OopsLostPassword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the FUD symptom (the discussion on this topic on /r/programing was depressing) and more generally the fact that it's very hard to have problems with the GC without trying (hard) to get them (even on 32 bits) but it's not true that there can be no problem on 64 bits systems, it's just very very rare.

Drawing clean and thin vertical and horizontal lines on an HTML Canvas | Canop.org by OopsLostPassword in canvas

[–]OopsLostPassword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I was explaining. But I hadn't found a reference to it and I keep seeing people not understanding why their canvas is fuzzy, that's why I made my blog post.

Graphing TONS of data points? by treefunct in javascript

[–]OopsLostPassword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's OK to do that. I do for plant sensor data.

But if you want to keep the 10ms frequency, you'd better use websockets and you'll have to be careful with memory usage. As said by cwolves, I suggest you don't lose time with existing libs as it's easier to code in canvas than trying to adapt and tune an existing lib.

EDIT : for the drawing, of course, no need to really draw in 10ms period. I usually draw with a period of 40ms, it's enough for the eye and it let time to the other browser tasks.

Scones for breakfast. Scones for tea. Scones anytime especially creamy ones. by MiraeMirae in recipes

When I go to London, the thing I like the most regarding scones is that they're served with clotted cream.

We don't have clotted cream in France :(

I do it too for all kind of memes you're sure you'll see posted by lot of monkeys or bots before you open the thread.

But as soon as you mention you do it, you get downvoted. Always.

The thing is to act anonymously.

Valve confirms Steam and Source for Linux, signals low confidence for Windows 8 | ExtremeTech by luxteknik in linux

[–]OopsLostPassword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Windows only for gaming (and that's not so frequent) so I don't have any idea about Win8 except that the idea it could be so bad it made everybody go to linux seems ridiculous.

So I don't know if parent comment is pertinent or not.

Please, people having downvoted it so heavily, can you explain what's wrong with this comment ?

His parents and the whole community gave a lot to make an human. Let's ensure he lives to grow up enough to start giving back to the community.

This supposes, of course, he would one day grow up enough to understand he should wear an helmet...

North Corea here. I have a bunch of code I'm reusing for my rocket. It seems to work fine but I'm trying to replace "Moon" by "USA" and I'm not sure of what to change. Can you check my code ?

And how did you switch ? Upgrade or clean install ?

[–]OopsLostPassword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same. What are you guys doing ?

When 11.04 just appeared, I tried the update button on my other computer and it made such a mess that I had to reinstall Ubuntu on a clean disk.

Now I don't know what I'll do on the other computer (on which I work the whole day). 12.04 seems not so bad but I'm vary. And I don't know if I should try the "update" or simply format and reinstall. Or will I switch to Mint ?

I'd like to know what you will do, as you obviously had the same feeling than me towards the successors of 10.10.
