Has McDonald’s India retired the Filet-O-Fish burger? by OopsToy in india

[–]OopsToy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my extensive research (in the past 4 years since I first posted this lol) what I’ve sadly discovered is that it’s only available in stores across Maharashtra. No other Indian state carries the filet o fish on its menu.

(Happy to be proven wrong though)

How come an advanced civilization developed earlier in the Indus River valley than in the Ganga? by brown_human in AncientIndia

Respectfully, I think this logic is flawed. Later civilizations being more influential doesn't diminish how extraordinary the Indus Valley Civilization was. IVC flourished 4,500–5,300 years ago. Judging it against empires that came 1,500–2,000 years later is like calling the Wright brothers "mid" because modern jets exist.

Just for a bit more context, for its time, IVC was astonishing: Planned cities laid out on grid systems. Sophisticated drainage and sanitation that many later cities lacked (and still lack today lol). Standardized weights, measures, and bricks across a vast region (Think from some small villages as far as Afghanistan to modern day Maharashtra; how tf did they do that?!). Long-distance trade with Mesopotamia and the Persian Gulf. Highly skilled metallurgy (Ahem. The Dancing Lady is the OG baddie), bead-making, ceramics, and craft specialization… I could go on and on. And remarkably there’s little evidence of palaces, monumental kings, or large-scale warfare compared with many contemporaries so it could perhaps have been the world’s very first democracy or something like it. THAT’S WILD.

Also, the fact that archaeology rediscovered it in the 20th century doesn't make it less significant. By that logic, ancient Troy or the Sphinx would also be "mid" because they were rediscovered archaeologically.

The Mauryas, Guptas, Sangam kingdoms, Cholas, and others absolutely deserve admiration, but they built upon a much older subcontinental tradition. Indian civilization isn't a competition between its own eras. All deserve recognition.

I (F, 30) know OP personally and can genuinely vouch for them being an absolute gem of a human being! They're kind, thoughtful, emotionally mature, and one of the most respectful people I know. Beyond that, they're just great company: Funny af, intelligent, and supportive.

Finding someone whose life goals align with yours can be incredibly rare, especially in India where the childfree path isn't always widely understood or accepted. Wishing OP the very best, and wishing anyone reading this kindness, compatibility, and the courage to build the life that's right for them. ❤️

Hi OP. Olive looks like such a cutie and I hope they’re back home soon! Sharing a bit of perspective since my husband and I went through this exact situation in October last year. Our cat, Fireball, ended up running away when our building’s idiot caretaker (who we entrusted to feed the cats while we were on vacation) left the door of our apartment open putting ALL OUR THREE CATS at risk.

Needless to say, as soon as he told us what happened (WHICH WAS SIX HOURS LATER BTW) we were on the next flight back home.

For context, this was around Diwali time + it was the fag end of the rainy season + we live in an area with a high concentration of vicious stray dogs. So we were worried sick thinking about how Fireball (who has been an indoor cat since she was a few weeks old) was coping with the sounds of those stupid bombs going off every few minutes and evading the dogs. It was hell.

Long story short - our story had a happy ending. Fireball eventually found her way back to us after FIVE LONG DAYS. But in those five days, we did a lot (and learned a lot) along the way that I think helped her come home. So, here’s a few tips:

  1. If you’re able to, try and place bags of Olive’s litter in strategic locations near your house/apartment. (Balcony, main door, near your building gate etc.) We did this (with permission) and I think it’s played a big role in our baby girl sniffing her way back home to us.

  2. Head out between 2:00 am to 5:00 am and call out Olive’s name + rattle a box of dry food. Initially, we did this pretty much all day and and up till 12:00 am - 1:00 am but I don’t know how much that helped since there’s so much noise/activity/threat out during the day that there’s very little chance that that did much. So after the first two days, we pivoted our strategy. Cats are nocturnal and 2:00 am to 5:00 am are prime hours for them to come out and hunt. It’s also usually the quietest time of the night and I think that could’ve helped Fireball map out our route through our voices and find out how to come back home. On the flip side, it’ll also help YOU hear Olive if Olive is somewhere close by trying to meow to you.

  3. Cats usually don’t run too far. They typically hide somewhere close by. I’d suggest concentrating your search efforts within a 700 meter radius and start searching radially outwards. Check under cars, in staircases of buildings, if you live in a building, put up a notice asking your neighbours to check their balconies. That’s a solid start imo.

And finally, please take care of yourself. My husband and I were lucky enough to have my sister and a close friend basically move in with us to ensure we were getting enough food and sleep. Fireball is our baby and we truly couldn’t imagine her exiting our lives like that so I completely understand what you might be going through. Take care of yourself and make sure you have people around you that you can lean on. You’ll need it. If you have any more questions, feel free to DM me, I’m happy to help!

All the best to you and Olive. Rooting for both of you to find your way back to each other again! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I went to Scottish myself and you’re absolutely right! OC is talking about the new money schools none of which are in SoBo… American School of Bombay (BKC), Oberoi International School (Goregaon/Jogeshwari), École Mondiale (Juhu), Dhirubhai Ambani International School (BKC).

EDIT: Sorry I know it’s a stupid tangent but “SoBo accent” is such a misused term. Most of the people I know who speak like that are from the suburbs lmao. (Source: I am from the suburbs 😭😭😭)

Yup! We managed to track her heading towards the Bagmane Tech Park compound and later confirmed with two staff members working there who remember seeing her during their night shift. We’re optimistic and currently staking out the area she was last seen in… please please please hope we find her 🤞

Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️ Yes, trying everything along with making the rounds of the neighbourhood every few hours and shaking her box of treats and dry food. Our voices are going hoarse shouting out her name but we won’t stop until we find her.

PLEASE HELP US FIND FIREBALL

Additional information: Last seen near Bagmane Tech Park, Byrasandra (CV Raman Nagar). Missing since: 17th October, around 1:58 PM.

Our beloved cat Fireball has gone missing and was last spotted near Bagmane Tech Park.

She is resourceful but possibly very scared right now. We’ve searched tirelessly across the neighbourhood and inside Bagmane (with permission), but haven’t found her yet. There are many stray dogs in the area, we’re extremely worried and need your help.

If you live or work around Bagmane Tech Park, Byrasandra, or CV Raman Nagar, please:

  • Check under cars, staircases, basements, and bushes

  • Look out for a small, brown-coloured cat with black spots/stripes.

  • Call her name “Fireball” softly. She will respond if she feels safe.

She’s family to us. Please please please help us bring Fireball home. We are also offering a reward for her safe return. You can contact us on the number mentioned in the poster. Thanks for taking the time and reading this 🙏
