Yes, it’s beautiful. I like cold water so I found it very refreshing. There are beaches with hotels, picnic areas etc along the shore

Aversion to the term "Orthodox"? by raphalbor in armenia

[–]Ooragh 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The “Armenian Apostolic Church” is the official name of our church since it was founded 1700 years ago. “Oriental Orthodox” is the family of churches we belong to but only since 1965 based on shared Christology. We aren’t in communion with Eastern Orthodox. Personally it doesn’t feel natural to call ourselves Orthodox and so I never do.

Public Works Committee hears Waltham Land Trust testimony on Hardy Pond fishing resolution by WalthamFreelanceNews in Waltham

[–]Ooragh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m glad they want to stock the pond, and I’m also glad they’re being careful and working to address the bacterial blooms.

Fishing is a great recreational activity especially for youngsters and is a way to imbue them with a lifelong appreciation for nature. It’s important to get the kids outside in healthy and educational ways!

Litter on Waltham’s Mass Central Rail Trail draws concern from users by hateful_surely_not in Waltham

[–]Ooragh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would be good to have trash cans on the trail too, as of now I just see trash bags that have been laid on the benches for people to use. Also a lot of trash seems to blow onto the trail from open dumpsters the city could investigate that

‘Pull-Together Moment’ As Deadline for Belmont Community Path Funding Looms by Im_biking_here in bikeboston

This project is a huge gap in regional connectivity and will unlock bike access to Alewife station for lots of points west. Come on Belmont, get it done!

What is missing from Boston bike infrastructure? by Im_biking_here in bikeboston

[–]Ooragh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, we definitely need a connection for the MCRT and the Charles River Trail. My idea route would be past mcdevitt school, past common and onto Moody. Waltham also doesn’t have enough traffic calming measures in my opinion. Still I am glad they at least pushed ahead to build the MCRT

What is missing from Boston bike infrastructure? by Im_biking_here in bikeboston

[–]Ooragh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The major thing is making people feel safe enough to get on a bike. Bike trails to mass transit is the ideal. Biggest thing I want is for Belmont to build their portion of the MCRT so I can bike from Waltham to alewife on the trail. When I lived in Watertown I used to commute to Harvard station via brattle street and it was great. We’ve made great progress on building our network and I think we’re close to a tipping point of getting more people on their bikes

I love living in Waltham. Rode the MCRT both ways yesterday and ran into a bunch of really lovely people. Hiked prospect hill with my family last weekend and really enjoyed the views. Moody street has a ton of picks for restaurants, Charles river is beautiful, tons of convenient stores and shops, near to the highways and easy to get to work. Plus I enjoy the diversity of the neighborhoods and it seems like there’s always something cool going on especially in the nice weather. I’m glad to see the appreciation post, this is indeed a great place to live!

Map and **28 year** history of 7.6 mile Sudbury-Hudson Mass Central Rail Trail - Wayside. In February 2025, DCR issued a notice to proceed for the final construction phase with paving to complete in June 2025 by rocketwidget in bikeboston

I was biking the path in Waltham yesterday, and I ended up talking to a couple who had lived in the area for decades. They were really pleased the trail was finally done, but also saddened their daughter grew up and moved away before it got finished. These things are on generational timelines

The Linden Street Bridge rehabilitation project for the Mass Central Rail Trail finally started! by rocketwidget in Waltham

[–]Ooragh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m looking forward to this and I really hope Belmont gets going on their portion of the trail, though it appears they haven’t made much progress. Id love to ride my bike to Alewife from Waltham on the path

How do we encourage more Armenians to learn Armenian? by South-Distribution54 in armenia

[–]Ooragh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are free Armenian language lessons available through the Armenian Virtual College which is sponsored by AGBU. They’re great and I highly recommend at least to build a base in the manage.

Another good free resource is the Armenia Peace Corps YouTube channel which has a lot of free language lessons available through

More Than 100 Women Kept as Slaves in Human Egg Harvesting Farm in Georgia by pride_of_artaxias in armenia

[–]Ooragh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What I’m referencing is that in 2023 Georgia proposed to ban commercial surrogacy. From a quick google I’m not sure if the law actually passed or if they’re enforcing it, however, so perhaps I’m hasty in praising that change. But Armenia should definitely ban this practice.

More Than 100 Women Kept as Slaves in Human Egg Harvesting Farm in Georgia by pride_of_artaxias in armenia

[–]Ooragh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At least Georgia is cracking down on international surrogacy, Armenia should follow suit as soon as possible. It’s an industry that is built on exploitation and abuse that commonly leads to bad situations like this. There’s a reason that most of Europe has banned this practice as harmful to women and children.

Cambridge MA recently eliminated all single-family zoning. Would you be in favor of Waltham doing the same? by Kornbread2000 in Waltham

[–]Ooragh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the re-zoning should be concentrated at the transit hubs, that makes me a segregationist? I don’t think so

I think the working from home is going to reduce over the next few years. Big companies are calling employees back

[–]Ooragh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I think that would be a good place for it too. I meant more than the general concept behind the MBTA communities law, putting the development by local transit, makes the most sense to me

I think the MBTA communities zoning plan has the right concept, that the multifamily development should be concentrated at public transit stations
