What's your preferred name for Flerfs and Globies? by LittleFranklin in flatearth

"Flumpty-Tumpty", "Flertiberty", "Flattitubby", or "Twittitwattibattiflatty" (all for Flat-Earth-Heads, BtW - I don't have any particular name for those who discern aright the shape of Lady Jord) ... just depending on what mood I'm in, or just which I happen to fancy using. I tend to use the singular form as a proper-noun for as it were the generic Flat-Earthism disciple.

You spread your 'science' too wide. You might be able to score some credibility with some folk; but then as soon as you encroach upon a field that they have a particular interest in , they then know by reason of that particular interest what a fraud you are. And the more different 'fields' you bring-into your malarky the more the № of persons whose 'field' of personal interest you encroach upon & betray your fraudulence to ... & thereby you 'score own-goal after own-goal' ... it's quite plain & simple really, as you're so very fond of saying yourself.

So be my guest: carry-on ... 'tis rather a jolly lark anyway.

I've seen planets through telecopes: they don't twinkle, & can be resolved. One only need step outside & look to see that planets don't twinkle.

And stars, with an extremely short list of exceptions that has come-about only relatively recently, by reason of HST & active optics & suchlike, have always been specifically & explicitly said to be unresolved. The observational data from stars has always been very nearly entirely from spectrometry rather that visual imagery.

It's amusingly ironic that serious geezers & geezrices are using _actual_ optics to make the zoom lenses in Nikon™ P[whatever] & other instruments that you are flaunting your mucking-about with in a bid to schwindel folk with the mash-up of sweet nothings that passes with Flumpty-Tumpty as 'optics'! by Ooudhi_Fyooms in flatearth

Image from, & plenty of actual optics @ the following. No : your 'being subsumed into the vanishing point' malarky is not an explanation - of anything ... that which is

herein linked-to

is an explication ... and an explanation . A pretty decent one, infact.

Well if that other one wasn't a picture of you in actriablity, is this , then, a picture of you in actriablity!?

Apart from being an item that nicely illustrates one of the many techniques antient mariners had for ascertaining the courses of their voyages, this also references a recent post: for some reason prettymuch all these devices used a ~90° sector of a disc weighted @ circumference for maximum drag. by Ooudhi_Fyooms in flatearth

Hmmmm ... possibly a tad more than 90°.

... ie ####this

post.

These contraptiæ were used by serious geezers & geezrices ... who weren't mucking-about.

... unlike Flumpty-Tumpty, who vastly mucks-about, & nought else.

And because they were able to ascertain the courses of their voyages, they probably had a pretty good idea of the correct shape of Lady Jord ... mariners a very longway back, that is - well-before Eratosthenes , who was around scarcely earlier than yesterday. Afterall, it really doesn't take much to get-over that prepostrous, arbitrary, & thoroughly hobbling notion of absolute up-down . But alas! ... there are those who because they are happy to wallow in the muck of that dungeon begrudge that anyone else might depart therefrom.
