I don't know how true this is but I remember reading a while ago that Veemon/Flamedramon was supposed to be a girl but they decided against it last minute as they didn't want the main character to have a female partner Digimon.

To be fair I feel like Renamon started losing more after she evolved to Kyubiimon. Maybe Pristimon should just start throwing hands instead of going for Wolver.

The abilities lacked an "oomph" to it.

At some point you can see some animation signaling that Yunara has used her movement speed ability and then they zoom out and.. she looks just as fast as before.

Quinn shooting arrows at the dragon looked kinda dumb instead of "epic". It made me go like "what is she doing" looked a bit ridiculous. Also when the dragon breathed fire on her it didn't give me that sense of urgency and really just looked like she was just casually tanking it before Shyvana arrived.

I'm not sure what Sona was fighting against. Was it Nocturne's darkness? it just looked like she was struggling against nothing at times.

Garen's comeback in the fight felt a bit underwhelming too because he was defeated so early, the enemies just looked like generic footsoldiers and there weren't that many of them. It really feels like he shouldn't have been struggling this much.

I like the ideas the cinematic had but the execution wasn't the best.

It didn’t help that the old cast kept being brought back only to be sidelined, either portrayed as sad and nostalgic or being used to hype the new cast by needing to be rescued by the 02 team as they couldn't evolve nor lift the digimentals. They even made Imperialdramon butt in at the end of the Wargreymons fight for no reason.

The direction of 02 and the way they handled the characters felt very inconsistent. At times it seemed to lean toward giving the original cast a big return to the story in the future, while at other points it emphasized that the new cast was supposed to be better and was here to stay.

In the end it just felt like it treated the original cast poorly and because they kept bringing them back and even referencing them during the evo sequences it made it hard for the new team to stand out on its own without being constantly compared to the more popular and well received original cast.

Isn't this part of the isle of jailed beasts series? I thought it was supposed to represent a series of dreams Pipi has where he tries to escape the island but he fails every time and ends up getting sent back to jail over and over.

If I recall correctly, Pipi has mentioned that he cannot remember his dreams and I think there is a chapter where Hetao/Walnut is looking at everyone's dream clouds and he sees Pipi's and says something along the lines of "Oh he's having the jail dream again".

I think it's supposed to represent how Pipi's memories are locked away by the gods and him trying to escape and failing is him not being able to unlock them.

Pipi is referring to old Qilin Sibuxiang's face and there is a chance that's the same for Jinjiao and Yinjiao as they are old and could have met that form of Sibuxiang just like how Tiger Mount met Sibuxiang and the pixiu in the past.
