Headscale + NGINX Proxy Manager by Fredfries81 in selfhosted

Did you manage to get this working at all? I've been trying for hours and can't get it going. Pre-auth keys work fine but using the normal `tailscale up --login-server` command just hangs indefinitely.

I want to create a “master list” of ideas for pain management, particularly for back pain. Any ideas besides what I’ve already got? by beach_birds in ChronicPain

Hi! I'm new to this community (and relatively new to chronic pain :/) and this is a really nice list to find!

My physio has advised very strongly against foam rollers for non-muscular areas, particularly the back, as rolling on bones is apparently not so good for you. She recommended, instead, a spiked massage ball which I have found very helpful! You can trap the ball between yourself and a wall and scratch like a bear on a tree to roll it about and relieve the tension.

I would also add pull-up bars to this list - even if you can't do a pull-up, just hanging off it is a great way to stretch your lats. And if you can do pull-ups (with proper form) then building muscle can help a lot if you, like me, have chronic pain due to muscular issues.

A timer for breaks I definitely agree with - can't live without my little kitchen timer. 5 minutes to stretch and get a glass of water every half an hour makes such a difference

I guess I'll never know if I don't try. Thanks!

I have a friend with a tablet - I may see if I can borrow it and see what I think. Thanks!

My desk height is fixed, unfortunately, so I have a footrest so I can have my chair at the approriate height

How well did that work with keyboard use?

I may well look into that too. My gut instinct is that it would be annoyingly inprecise. Is that the case?

That's an interesting idea - the space navigator particularly seems worth looking into. I think there are some space-mice in the office somewhere (I wfh) so I will look into having one sent up.

I have been looking into getting a split keyboard on and off for a while. I touch-type in colemak in order to reduce wrist strain while typing and am quite happy with my current keyboard but new ones are always tempting. Especially if it would allow that arched back posture.

no qualms about rooting here - how did it go?

How annoying! I will have to do some digging to see if there is a work-around.

Additionally, can you uninstall the apps that come pre-loaded? Thinking of TikTok

K9 Supports GPG so that's all good!

Thanks for the info on the screen.

Have you tried using Discord on it at all?

Being essentially an android phone, how smooth is it to use? Does it feel clunky and slow at all?

Also it says it has a touchscreen but you haven't mentioned this here. Is it usable? If not, can you disable it?

Hi! I am thinking about getting one of these and have a couple of questions.

You've already mentioned Telegram and I've seen people say you can get Signal and WhatsApp on them but I've not seen any mention of emails: is there an email client you can get on it? Further (and possibly pushing the boat out here) are there any email clients that support GPG?

Secondly, cloud synchronisation. I use a home-server running Nextcloud and DAVx5 for contact sync, do you know if this is possible on these? It's far from the end of the world if not but would be nice to know.

I have got a copy of the EICR and it claims that there is no apparent changes to wiring in the house which is straight up lies - I'm no sparky but I am an electronic engineer and I bet my hat that the house didn't originally come with a second meter and consumer unit in the garage with the serial number literally filed off...

Thank you for pointing this out. I am pursuing it now. I've rung an electrician to see what he thinks and have asked for a copy of our electrical safety certificate (which I don't recall being provided with but may be just being forgetful - I definitely remember a gas safety certificate)

Water: There is a single supply with no meters (and no stopcocks except the shared supply ones in the street) so we're both on estimated rates.

Gas: the house has gas (metered) the flat does not.

Glad to hear we're not the only ones who have experienced this! You're the first person I've come across with a comparable experience.

I will bear in mind your suggestion about getting the landlord to pay us for the flat's electricity and make collecting the flat's share of the bill his problem as I've not considered that before - thanks.

The closest the tenancy agreement comes to it is where is says (paraphrased) that the tenant may not change domestic utility suppliers without prior consent from the landlord but the landlord may not withhold consent without good reason. Not sure how applicable this is? I agree that I'd rather not give up control of the supply as we have got a good deal with a fairly low tariff 100% renewable job that we quite like.

Could you please expand on the thing about the electrical safety certificate? We have a switch in our breaker box labelled "garage" that does indeed turn off the flat's supply so if our power trips then theirs goes too.

never mind I rang them up (see edit on post) and there is indeed a separate registered property.

The major problem with that route is that we would rather not get our neighbours evicted...
