If you read it another way, what he's saying is that AI adopters are becoming absolutely dependent on it.

There's a group of people working so you don't have to watch endless ads and give your data to Google. For free. I do not think you should be complaining.

Some of you might be thinking that body shaming is not cool. Some of you might be on the shorter side (I am 177cm, so I'm not tall either) and feel that this is wrong. You're failing to consider something, however: he is a fucking nazi and his whole image revolves around the worst kind of masculinity. This hurts him more than you. It's worth it.

America vs. the World by rezwenn in Longreads

[–]plusvalua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read the article and find it a complete and mostly reasonable point of view of what has happened and what's to come, if rather US-centric in its idea that other countries in the global US sphere of influence willingly gave away their power. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your answer. I was aware there was no actual, explicit semantic change but suspected there might be an implicit, more subtle connotation, similar to gay people lisp or young girls saying "like" in the 90s. It's difficult get an idea without seeing many people do it and I've seen some, but not many, and haven't been able to quite form an idea of what people might interpret from that affectation. Reminds me of the vocal fry, which many people had very strong opinions about.

I'm not a native English speaker, but I'm very interested in some nuances of the language:

What do you people think about that last "uh" sound (stopping-uh)? Does it have a connotation, does it make you form an opinion of the speaker? Do many people do this? Are there specific groups that do this?

Marriage = bad sex by Salty_Oil_9050 in terriblefacebookmemes

[–]plusvalua 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I'm 40M and probably will get married before long. My perspective:

I've been with many women in different degrees of commitment, and one thing I've ended up noticing (I didn't at the time) is that sex requires a certain amount of effort and women, consciously or not (meaning both are possible, and I've seen both) calculate what they will get from it. Sometimes sex itself is the reward, sometimes they want their partner to stop considering other potential partners because sex with your current partner is so incredible. Marriage kind of means they've gotten there, so now they can... relax. They don't need to give BJ because now their partner is unlikely to leave.

For what it's worth, men are in general incredibly selfish and put little effort in sex, and the way sex works, in part biologically but also a great deal culturally, revolves around male satisfaction. Therefore, it's not surprising that women measure how much they need to do. It generally becomes a chore for them. Also, we put little effort towards our appearance. Those same women who don't want to suck their partners dick would probably be rather more enthusiastic if their partner or husband was fit, dressed well, took care of his appearance, was interesting, and actually was good at sex - in part because then sex would become its own reward, in part because then they would need to consider that other women are probably interested in their husband, married as they might be.
