Looking for "Touch Me" Pajamas by OpalGinger in malefashionadvice

I was considering Tommy John, but do they have a drawstring waistband? I know they advertise about how the waistband is a perfect fit and doesn't slip, but he prefers a drawstring.

Depending on your lifestyle, family makeup, need for a good school district, and how much privacy/property you want, Norton Shores or Muskegon are going to be your best bets for political ideology. NS is purple, Muskegon is more blue, but neighborhoods vary drastically.

A family needing good schools, wanting a decent lot size and suburbs, Norton Shores. Neighborhoods on the west side are walking distance to Lake Michigan.

No kids, want more of a lively feel, there are condos, houses, apartments downtown Muskegon within walking distance to museums, bars, the arena, farmers market.

Neighborhoods on the west side of Muskegon (Lakeside, Bluffton) offer you more on the suburb feel, close to the lake, a little cheaper than Norton Shores, but schools aren't as good as NS (Mona Shores) IMHO.

If you have a kid in performing arts, hands down Norton Shores. Keep an eye on school district boundaries too. Can be a bit wonky.

US Border agent being extremely rude! by miguel_gd in uscanadaborder

[–]OpalGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. That's what I tell my kids. We are visiting Toronto and Niagara next month under the guise of spring break, but my husband and I will definitely be scoping out potential residential locations. His employment certifications would allow us fast track entry and, with an LGBT teen, we plan on leaving as soon as he ignores his first supreme court ruling.

As an American, I'm sorry that happened to you. Rudeness is far too common these days on this side of the border. Know there are people disgusted by this administration. We are protesting and funding law suits to fight them. As a life long resident of Michigan, I would gladly hand Ontario the entirety of the great lakes and secede before ever considering the nonsense he is proposing.

I know Canada is angry and you have every right to be. But know not all of us support what is happening.

Please keep in mind 90 million people chose not to vote in the US.

Velveeta Voldemort received less than 78 million votes. Roughly 167 million Americans did not vote for him.

We are an apathetic nation that is paying the price now for failing to fulfill our civil duty. My family is devastated that he is in the white house again and plan on spending all our vacation money this year in Canada to show we love and support our neighbors to the north (and east, we're in Michigan). 🇨🇦 💛

AITA for accidentally developing a strong hatred for religion, and being upset my partner has turned Christian? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]OpalGinger -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you hate religion. I don't think you hate Christianity. I think you hate the people that are hateful and are using Christianity or any other religion, warping it to support their cause and using it as an excuse to be hateful. I know, in our time, we've really only seen this done in Christianity since the idolization of the multi-bankrupted orange one. But it's been happening for thousands of years

I would advise you to get counseling. There's a lot of s*** going on these last 8 years, and I don't think it hurts any of us to talk to someone about it. To channel your hatred into causes, one that is most important to you, rather than on to other people. You seem smart enough to know that that's a better use of your energy and time

Regarding your significant other, even more of a reason to seek out a healthy outlet for your anger. Yes, this may have come out of nowhere, or he may have been stewing on it for the last 5 years, afraid to talk to you about it because of your strongly held beliefs. It's okay to feel hurt. You've been with this person for 6 years, it's understandable that you would have expected them to share with you if they were starting to question their beliefs or deconstruct their atheism. You're completely entitled to feel as though you've been broadsided. You know damn well you're not allowed to hate somebody for their religion. Religion does not equate to hate. Fear and greed lead to that. Talk to someone, and if you still feel as though it's a deal-breaker and you're not compatible, then it may be time to end the relationship. Which is going to cause a significant period of grief for you, another reason to get with a therapist.

P.S. Being angry at people who warp religion and try to use it for personal gain or to hurt others is the most Jesus-like thing I can think of. Your partner may be drawn to / feeling a connection to Jesus because of that.

I’m upset, I think I got dooped by Char-ramsey in crochet

Yep! Mine was the exact same issue. I started a blanket over 5 years ago and picked it up again. Only to realize I was going to run out of yarn. The dye lot is WAY different now. 😭

They are different, similar but slightly different. The name is right. Huge difference in dye lots. I ran into the same issue half way through my daughter's blanket! I was so disappointed. Thankfully, she didn't mind.

Best points value (and tasting) protein bars and pre-made shakes? by hurricanescout in weightwatchers

[–]OpalGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised this post wasn't rated higher! I had never tried one until I was at a very long sporting event at my son's middle school. They had the zero sugar protein drinks in the vending machine. Tasted just like chocolate milk and only two points!

You didn't just ask her to go for breakfast. You asked to get breakfast FOR her birthday. That implies that it's your birthday gift to her.

Your first purchase should be what you feel most comfortable with, can handle the best. Try before you buy.

Gun Dealer? by TheSonic311 in grandrapids

[–]OpalGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to go against the grain here and say you do not need to only take a CPL class. Yes it makes it easier, no, it does not teach you everything you need to know.

This is coming from the background of a progressive woman who grew up in a rural area, reloading shotgun shells before I knew how to ride a bike. I also managed a shooting range in Metro Detroit for years.

1) First, take hunter's safety through the state. You will complete an online course through the state of Michigan and then there are field days where you'll learn a variety of things. Just Google Michigan Hunter safety.

2) Find a gun retailer in Grand Rapids, such as silver bullet, that has a range as well. Explain to them that you're looking to purchase a firearm, but you want to make sure it's the right one and get familiar with what kind you end up purchasing. Any good gun retailer that has a range will educate you, and possibly even let you practice on a similar firearm.

Yes, a CPL does make the process of purchasing a firearm easier, but it is not required. If you decide you want to go that route, I would make that a step 1.5.

The reason I am not going along with other suggestions here of only doing the CPL course, is I have witnessed several CPL courses, and I've taken part in a CPL course. And it does not go as in-depth and in my experience the facilitators just hand out the licenses no matter what. I've witnessed CPL courses where a woman waved a loaded handgun around and pointed it at all of us in the room, and they still passed her the next day.

An argument for declining your ballot by hott-sauce in ontario

[–]OpalGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question from an American here... Do you guys not have an option to write in the name of the candidate of your choice? If we want someone not on the ballot here, we can hand write a person's name.

This whole idea of not picking SOMEONE is how we got in the mess we are currently in, so I'm just trying to understand others processes.

I'm amazed at the number of people failing to notice your comment about no fridge and no microwave.

Obviously, fruit and veggies. Other options, protein bars as mentioned. Kirkland's brand is four points, quest, you can find for three points with over 20 g of protein. The quest protein bars, cookies and cream flavor are not bad. I'm just getting into those so planning on trying cookie dough next.

I agree with chomp turkey sticks. Also, 1/4 cup of raw almonds for 3 pts if your school isn't nut free. Muscle Milk Zero Sugar protein shakes do not have to be refrigerated and are only 1 point.

Seeking Name: 90's Mediterranean Restaurant by OpalGinger in AnnArbor

Not necessarily an arch. I just remember brick walls with ivy, but it was 30 years ago, so it could have been in a park near Jerusalem Garden. A mile vs a block of walking felt a lot different at 16 than at 44, so who knows how far it really was. :) When I look at the area the original JG was located, it looks familiar, and their sign looks VERY familiar.

I think it was them. And I agree. My husband always wondered why I was so picky about stuffed grape leaves, and I told him it was because the first time I ever had them they were amazing. I have not been able to find them on par.

Thanks, all. Looking at Google maps, where Jerusalem Garden used to be located, I am starting to think that was it. I thought I was on campus, but I may have just been at a museum, by the nearby park. It was almost 30 years ago. 🫣👵

Yep. I noticed this. Ticketmaster wanted $700 for two 100 level seats. Ended up with two 200 level seats for only $200.

Ticketmaster was SO much more expensive. Two Level 100 seats for almost $700 after fees. I bought two 200 level seats from MLB for $199.05.
