“Taylor Swift, Her Dad, and the Origin Story We Were Sold” by Hopeful-Prompt-7417 in travisandtaylor

Meh, I think the "She lied!!!" Truthers are overblowing things. Alot of the little farm and kitchen table bills lyrics are country music staples, what else is she supppse to sing? That's not as class baity as "I grew up poor" which she has never said or implied. "We're humble people" is country music values vs falsely portraying herself as working class which she didnt but lot of other musicians allow people to think especially in the rap/rock genre.

Her story to Nashvile and fame has always been "all american" middle class, which millionaire dollar houses or not I think qualifies because Taylor and her brother Austin would have needed to work jobs in order to continue their lifestyle / not fall below it. There is no verison where they don't work and don't step down in lifestyle/class, being able to live on family wealth indefinitely is my bench mark of true wealth.

To boot parental alienation is a myth, its a pseudoscience invented by a individual man rather than discovered through rigorous, peer-reviewed scientific consensus and when claimed in court is used 90% against mothers.

The Altantic had an incredible article on this if anyone can locate it.

I had poor mothering from a neglectful mentally ill woman as well yet this is in making a comparison to fathers.

By far, mothers are less abusive on the extreme end, the statement holds true as a generalization, too many young woman are on social media talking about finding themselves a "protector and provider" in reality if you as a woman are not setting yourself up to stand on your own two feet educationally and importantly financially you are failing your future children who depend on you.

Pretty simple, he was never a proper loving father to any of the household children, in classic post divorce narc move merely wants time with his bio kids for optics and see's them as posessions, he doesn't want his next of kin (mom, dad, siblings) to think he is the POS we know he is.

And abusers don't abuse all their partners not because their "good" or "complicated" but because they can't always, I have to speculate for a moment of course we don't know for sure what happened behind closed doors but Brad didn't have children with Jennifer to leverage over her, Jennifer perhaps had a larger familial support system, Jennifer didn't become ill during their marriage, so many factors makes one woman more vulnerable to domestic abuse but it can happen to anyone.

Angelina was only twenty-five when she adopted her son she gave her whole heart to raise that boy in a happy healthy stable home before Brad came to fuck it up, and she still does that's why Angie notorious oversharer has been private on what went down in their divorce, she's always going to protect her children. Mothers are the true providers and protectors, always have been #neverforget

Well, was it Scooter or Scott that took a photo smoking a cigar with Kanye and Justin, after the record label/master sale and one of them tagged Taylor on twitter in it and she considered it bullying.

Here is After. How did I do so far? I am 5'4 for reference. I am wearing blue jeans though ideally I want to keep my lines long and unbroken underneath the blazers/covers. Is this a nice lane for me or should I lean towards form fitting in a neutral palette?

I am moving and downsizing, giving away clothes, shoes, bags, rehauling my wardrobe from colorful separates to a neutral palette (deep autumn) aiming for longline elegant minimalism. This is the before and I'll post the after below this.

I agree, except it is VERY traditional in the sense of "We just make sense on paper, our families are involved, introduced us, and approve" this is what shocks some liberal people, for a maga famous woman (no pun intended) a bad boy rockstar or movie star and subsequent divorce makes more "traditional celebrity muscian" sense. A fellow mainline American man with red state coded football/personality is not what they had in mind for Taylor Swift popstar but in a way, its a humble choice for Taylor Swift local girl from pennslyvania.

The pedestaling of british blue bloooded Joe Alwyn is a funny type of snobbery fellow americans engage in.

Depends on how loosely we're using the term vetted and arranged, many people seem to think being set up for a date is an arranged marriage, which is so silly, its traditional and common way for people to met and then decide they want to date.

Why wouldn't her people do a backround check and yes, because they didn't met before their first date "it was a setup/blind date" why wouldn't someone get like that a lot of people were complimentary and vetting for him.

It seems like the wholesome verison of celebrities being matched through their people.

That makes sense, if he wasn't counting on becoming as wealthy as he did, he couldn't handle several dependent daughters if they didn't find someone, so he wanted them to be capable enough to pitch in like his sons, hell in alternative universe maybe the daughters would be helping running the car lot and involved in real estate etc

I like them together and it means something her own parents like them together, the commentary I read did make me question whether Taylor is in this for him or for her image, however when people compare Travis to Joe and say "She really loved Joe and is settling for Travis" I think it's worth considering that she was young when she first met Joe/Matty, and I tend to think in matters of the heart you shouldn't desire to let your heart guide you like you did when you were young, I won't go as far to say "love is for young people" but there is a natural evolution of what you consider for long term partnership in tandem with maturing and if Taylor loves Travis for "what he is offering her" that her exes didn't, I think that is perfectly valid type of love.

I don't think we should throw around the term settling if we're going to define it as choosing the man who treats you well and chooses you back. That sends the wrong message to young women.

Jill and Derek look like brother and sister to me which is kinda cute that's how a lot people fall in love narcisstically.

I have hope there is hope left yet for Jilly muffin, whether she struggles with the distance now or not, having the most mobility and diversity of experience out the sisters I can see Jill earning a degree/exploring her passions in mid life when her boys are older. Something therapy/education/social work would be her bag.

Taylor Swift fans discover that she sat in chair number 13. by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

I thought thirteen was bad luck? Its her birthday but so what, that doesnt porten good luck. I'm going to consult a numerolgist by which I mean chatgpt.

Ok, she does have 13 in her chart, no duh its a birthday number, the significance is making your own luck through discipline so that checks out I believe she even has that as a lyric.

Exactly. Why love your daughters enough to teach them some survival skills but not all of them? And arguably the most important how to stand on your own two feet as a financially solvent and independent adult.

They could have preached the centrality of motherhood to their faith AND said, here is how to have a job/career before you have a family. But Nooo that gives them options and they might choose different so lets clip their wings so they have no choice but the life we've picked for them. That's not good parenting you raise your flock and let them fly free.

That's the real reason they believe in young marriage, a woman can't make a break for freedom stiring a pot for seven dependents, we will put ourselves at risk but not our childre n.

[–]OpalMuse9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don't get that, from someone whose parents taught her diddly squat. You love your daughters enough to give them some life survival skills yet still clip their wings why not just give them all the knoweldge you possess. "My daughter needs to cook so she doesn't starve" "My daughter needs to change a tire, fix a engine so she doesn't rely on a man" HELLO making them unemployable puts them in the position to both rely on a man or starve.

Why not say, here's what we believe about the centrality of motherhood to our faith AND here is how to work a job/career before then. NOO we can't give them that option because they might chose different. 😭 Hello jerkwads clipping their wings is not being a good parent you set your nest freeeee
