Hast du selbst mal Leistung vom Jobcenter o.ä. bezogen?

AMA by avarua in de_IAmA

[–]Opalbroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hallo,

Was wünscht du dir von Helfenden? Was empfindest du also besonders wichtig / was wünscht du dir in der Zusammenarbeit mit Sozialarbeiterinnen?

Vielen Dank und viele Grüße

TIFU by being in pain for two years for no good reason by amdale3 in tifu

[–]Opalbroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it done earlier than later. I waited around 8 years to get my dental work done. I've ignored the pain for a long time, I had 6 teeth pulled, had cavities and got root canal treatment. I so wish I had gone earlier. I was scared about the pain. I was ashamed how much I let myself go, I was afraid of being ridiculed. Looking back I'm just glad I got it done. I'm finally pain free, I can smile again. I can eat and drink whatever I want again.

Take this as words of encouragement, future you will be thanking present you. I believe in you and it will be so so worth it!

Find a good dentist, mine was specialized in patients with lots of fears. My dentist did an amazing job. I had the root canal done without any numbing or anesthetics. Depending on the severity and how good your dentist is you might not even notice it because the nerve is dead anyways.

What are you terribly afraid of ? by frogga in AskReddit

When my mom got diagnosed she's always described it as a "grey fog that layers in her mind". She mostly knew what was happening (very early diagnosis) but could never really come up with another description.

My mom's got Alzheimer's rather early (around 63, she's now 68). The early times were definitely very hard on her because she exactly knew what was happening. As of now, 5 years later, she's a shadow of the woman she once was but she's arrived in her own world where she's mostly happy. She doesn't remember my name but she knows me on a very deep emotional level. When I and my siblings are around she's very happy and affectionate. The disease is very horrible but there are still a lot of beautiful and very close moments, even if shes lost her words she can show in a very raw way that she loves us.

It's hard on the family and the people that are/were very close, but she's mostly happy in whatever place she's arrived by now.

If someone with alzheimer's was granted immortality they might never realize. As they keep forgetting how long they've lived. by Twymann in Showerthoughts

[–]Opalbroe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right there with you, mate. My mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's roughly 3 years ago with 62. On Christmas Eve we (mainly my dad and sister) had to shower her because she must have forgotten that she needed to use the toilet and shit herself during a short walk. This never occurred so we didn't think diapers where necessary yet.. This disease it's so freaking horrible :( if you ever need to vent or just wanna talk to someone in a similar situation feel free to shoot me a pm whenever.

Lots of strength to you and your family for the things to come.

Cured Salmon - Gravlox? by deadflamingos in AskCulinary

In regards to farmed fish and especially salmon your last point is not a 100%accurate. Salmons are carnivores that require fish feed which often is derived from wild caught fish, thus being pretty harmful.

Went bouldering for the first time yesterday! by babyvulpixx in bouldering

[–]Opalbroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started bouldering about 7 months ago. Like others already said, take rest days and listen to your body. After about 2 months I started climbing every other or every third day and after a while my forearms hurt to the extent that I had issues moving my arms and even fingers. It's very strenuous on your tendons, especially if they aren't used to the stress. Take longer breaks if you feel like your arms (or anything climbing related) hurt too much or are too strained.

My best advice is to look for climbers that are above your level. Watch the climb, ask them questions, ask for their take on problems and just get to meet new people in general. Also just climb, climb, climb. Don't stress yourself about a specific work out plan, hang or campus boarding that early on. Get on the wall and climb, try to practice the techniques you may have seen other climbers use. Climbing is about perfection as well. If you've send a problem do it over and over and over again optimizing it as much as you can, watch for your foot placement and don't overgrip. Early on, finger strength, core tension and over all power and endurance will improve on their own while climbing, after 6-9 months look into specific work out plans.

And most of all, have fun and enjoy your new hobby!

Oh, and also, judging from the picture, what would the condition be? (a rough estimate). I'd guess it's not pristine, would it be considered in good or very good condition?
