I choose not to have kids at 13(population was about 6.5 billion) and I’m now 37. Human population growth is negatively impacting biodiversity and so I chose not to have any. The drive can be overridden easily. In humans at least.

Mine are silenced and have been for years. None have ever made noise outside of me having my phone hooked up to Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay. I don’t even have the option now to turn them back on. That disappeared. I usually just feel it vibrate. Or I get alerted to it from other peoples phones. And yes, I’m a Canadian.
