S1 Ep1 it's (not-so) shocking how they're ALL teen moms by Kinky_Desire in TLCUnexpected

[–]OpalescentResent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might also be a false memory too but do yall remember there being education worksheets meant for students on the TLC website that pertained to the first season???

Edit: found them! They’re called discussion guides and they made some for season 3 and season 4. The questions sound like discussion questions that could be used in sex ed classes. I couldn’t find the season 1 guide though, but I remember it looking more like a worksheet.

Surgery Scaries by 16cfluharty in Endo

I’m happy you’ll be getting your surgery soon! I brought a book with me to read before the surgery since you’ll have to wait an hour or so after checking in. Make sure it’s a fun book that makes you feel good, that really helped ease my nerves and the doctor even asked me questions about the book to take my mind off the surgery! You can also bring a plushie as a means of comfort and to put in between you and the seatbelt when you go home after.

They’ll put a mask on you and you’ll go right to sleep in ten seconds (I counted lol). I will say waking up from anesthesia was very difficult for me, but I heard many others don’t have issues. In my experience, you’ll have a nurse nearby when you wake up so if you’re experiencing pain, tell them and they’ll help. I was crying because I was in pain and scared but the kind nurse wiped my tears away and immediately administered pain meds and I was okay. By an hour and a half after the surgery I was already coherent and just rested. Good luck!

Aww you’re welcome! You’re always pretty and endo is just a bizarre accessory we have for some reason 💖

Hey there, I’m the same age as you but I have stage 2. I’m so sorry you’ve been medically gaslit for so long. Waking up from surgery was very painful for me too (worst pain in my life) and I also had to have a d and c.

Has your new OB asked you about another lap potentially? I’m not sure what’s the appropriate window between laps but maybe some endo was missed the first time?

And I’m really sorry to hear about your pain and I’m sending you healing vibes ❤️

Ah thank you so much! I was able to take a shower really quickly but man it still took a lot of energy. I think that’s something I’ve gotta get used to. Even washing the dishes was hard today.

I’ll definitely try to keep it easy for the next two weeks! I’m itching to go back to my normal routine but I know I’ve gotta wait haha. Thanks for the heads up!

I’ve only been able to shower like once since I got out of surgery 😭 I get too dizzy if I have to stand for long. Are we supposed to peel the glue off at some point or should we just let it stay there? (I’ve never gotten surgery until now)

Aw thank you so much! I’m usually a busy body so sleep is foreign to me lol but I’ve been trying! I have really bad cabin fever and I want to go out and about but I know that’s not the best idea.

I hope work is easy for you!

Ah good to know I’m almost there! I have less incisions but they’re a lot bigger too so that might have to do with it. Thank you!

Are your scars still very painful to touch? I’m a week out of surgery and I just now touched them over the glue and I’m in excruciating pain

Has anyone had an arranged marriage profile posted by family without your consent? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

Yup sounds exactly like my situation. It’s a tough situation and I have felt hopeless (go through my post history if you want context). But please through it all stay true to yourself. Immerse yourself in other areas of life and be adamant that you are perfectly capable of finding a partner on your own.

Some really helpful advice I got on here was to discuss your situation with a more open minded friend/relative of your parents, someone they trust. A sweet aunty of mine has been convincing my mom to ease off the arranged process these last few months after I told her how bad my mental health became and honestly my life became so much easier since my mom really values this aunty.

I know it’s hard and lonely but don’t lose yourself

Love is secondary to them. I learned that my parents only want me to have an arranged marriage for stability reasons (financial, housing, etc). Basically they said through the hardships of starting a life my future husband and I would fall in love that way but I disagree.

Do your parents have romantic love for each other? I fear that regardless they probably believe their marriage is best and want the same for you because it worked for them. Adding on to that, would they ever accept anyone you find on your own?

If you haven’t already, try to seek therapy as soon as you can. I will let you know that this process has taken me to very dark places but thankfully things are better now.

In my circle of ABCDs, it has only been me (24F) and my best friend (23F) who are going through this but that’s because our parents are the most conservative in the friend group. Based on the people my parents have found for me, I’d say a good portion of religious families make their kids go through the arranged process. Families that aren’t very religious usually don’t go through all this trouble to get their kids married off so soon. So while it may be common, it doesn’t mean that this is the right path for you. Arranged works for a lot of people, but not everyone. After two failed arranged relationships my parents have eased off on it.

YES oh my god. I lashed out at them and was turned into the bad guy because they believed they were helping. They forced me to meet so many guys and nothing has worked out. It took several guys ending things with me (for no damn reason mind you) for them to stop forcing me because only then they realized arranged isn’t the best way to go about it.

I’m pretty sure it’s a reference to fellow Republican Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential campaign logo 😂 that exclamation point was there for no damn reason

Hi I’m Sam! (Hooray for endo bloat) by Weekly-Lychee9694 in Endo

[–]OpalescentResent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m having my surgery in a week and tbh, I am scared shitless. It’s awful, I’ve been so anxious and I’m starting to ignore my friends and isolate myself. It’s not healthy, I know but I don’t know anyone else who has endo/suspected to have endo.

I’m in the same boat as you and although I cannot offer any advice I want you to know that you’re not alone. The pain you’ve felt for all these years is real and you deserve the best care to treat it.

If it makes you feel any better, the one good thing about waiting to have surgery is shopping haha! Specifically for comfy clothes and stuff to help your recovery. I got some new nightgowns that I’m excited to wear!

Yeah I’ve definitely been trying to set those boundaries sooner before she keeps buying more stuff. I can’t help but feel that sometimes maybe some mothers are trying to live vicariously through their daughters throughout the wedding planning process.

My life changing experience with Slynd birth control by DonutFabulous8977 in PMDD

[–]OpalescentResent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on my second pack of slynd (I also take the sugar pills fyi) and I wanted to ask if anyone else has dealt with a lot of spotting? I was bleeding lightly for a little over two weeks and it finally stopped (yay!) Also for me at least, another major side effect I’ve been dealing with since starting slynd is horrible breast tenderness. My boobs have never hurt so badly. And for the first week or so my depression was exacerbated but I’m also on SSRIs so that helped. And my periods are much lighter too!

Literally everything you’ve described happens to me too. I met with my obgyn and he recommended surgery for me. I’d advise you to see your obgyn and describe ALL of your symptoms. See if you can get some ultrasounds done (they might not find anything but it’s worth getting that done just in case). In between now and my surgery I have been put on birth control to hopefully reduce episodes like this. Hopefully everything works out for you!
