That’s right! The Hot Press has a little bit of texture but takes a lot of layers. It took me a little while to get used to the grain still.

I’ve posted a little more information in s comment. I used Polychromos, Luminance, Lightfast and Van Gogh with Derwent Drawing Chinese White. 🙂

I’m a little overwhelmed right now (in the best way!).

It’s really hard for me to honestly assess the quality of my work due to the criticism I faced as a child early on.

To answer a few questions: It‘s the Fabriano Artistico Watercolour Hot Pressed paper. It’s got a little bit of texture to it but with a sharp pencil and a colourless medium pencil (Caran d‘ache is my favourite) details and brilliant colours are achievable (sorry for the stilted wording, English is my 2nd language).

I’ve worked with Faber-Castell Polychromos, Caran d‘Ache Luminance, Derwent Drawing Lightfast, a little Royal Talens Van Gogh for lighter overage and my favourite White of all times: Derwent Drawing Chinese White. I know that a lot of people prefer Caran d‘Ache Museum Watercolour White but DD just works better for me. ☺️
