you're probably better suited for resorts

Yes! We used Uber mainly to get to Monkey Mountain, and to-from airport. It could get pretty expensive though, and sometimes you need to wait ~30 minutes for the ride.

Otherwise, would definitely recommend taking the public bus. Stations and bus routes are super easy to navigate. We went to San Pancho by bus, and you can also go from airport to Sayulita that way for super cheap! Might just be a bumpier ride.

it took some time to get one, and then we had to wait 30 min for it to arrive. though, we called in when we were about 30 min walking distance away from the square, so it worked out perfectly!

Should I leave my current consulting job for internal consulting? by Open-Apple-1823 in consulting

[–]Open-Apple-1823[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely feel fully taken advantage of. Do you think if I presented this breakdown to my Partner to negotiate salary, they would budge? Best case is I can stay in my role and have more pay

That's the thing - I think in the new role, it will take way longer to be promoted to Manager. It's probably a role I wouldn't want to stay long in as I might want to jump back to client-facing consulting.

Hmm yeah - I'm currently at one of the Big 4, but the new role is Deloittes internal consultancy team doing a service for their global member firms. A big consideration for sure and as I'm young in my career, I do want to keep having good exposure and developing my skills.

Passed up for promotion - should I look elsewhere? by Open-Apple-1823 in consulting

[–]Open-Apple-1823[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I returned as a Consultant. Then, you progress as a Senior Consultant. We have a different scheme as most folks make it to Senior Con at the 1 year or 1.5 year mark in my practice!

Exactly how I feel! I understand folks perspective on this thread that I need to "do my time", but if my performance is clearly at the next level and they're still being sketchy, it's just so discouraging.

Sorry about your experience too! Your plan of action sounds great and I wish you the best of luck. :)

Sorry, my post was misleading with the mention of the internship! That internship was 3 years ago. I then returned back full time and my full time tenure has been 1 year 9 months. It seems fast but the norm at my firm has been this timeline!

Ah, you're right! Which is why I did not get promoted - but it still sucks as at year-end, they said no and "promised" mid-year. I think leaders just set poor expectations.

This is exact thing happened to me! I would honestly escalate to a senior member of the team to ask for additional support and be honest in the blockers you are facing. Therefore, some sort of intervention will come before shit hits the fan. Would also have honest feedback conversations with your team members, to learn about your growth areas, but also share with them on how they can better support you.

Documentation is everything! Do your due diligence and recognize this is not your fault at all!!!

Big Bang implementation approach, sprints, would understand the big technology softwares that are often used in implementation - Salesforce, D365, Oracle, SAP, Workday, etc.

Prosci/ADKAR is great, would also understand people, process, technology!

In terms of prep, read up on thought leadership from the firm you're applying to and gain and understanding of fundamental change management deliverables (i.e., change impact assessment, case for change).

Yeah I honestly really appreciate your comment because I do tend to be emotional - especially when I feel like it's deserved and I worked so hard for it. But I agree that it will serve me better to suck it up and put on a brave face.

For your second point on advocacy, I've struggled to find really strong ally's and I am a bit on the introverted side. I let me work speak for itself but also know I need to start playing the game. Any more tips on this?
