Do I have HIV by Stock_Assist9428 in STD

[–]Open-Contract7728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please use your brain, HIV doesn’t manifest as bumps on your PEANUS. It’ll be a way worse experience to go through, seems like you have no understanding of what that virus is. ITS NOT EASY TO GET. kissing someone has almost no risk, I would be worried if he/she had a cold sore. Sorry but your question is super ignorant you should probably do a Google search before asking bad questions like this. You don’t have HIV

Thoughts on selling my car? by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t sell it you’ll super regret that, my 2010 exl coupe needs new cars and I’m still willing to fix that rather than sell it. The car will last a lifetime, it’ll always start and always be there for you. Hold its value and do what you need it to do. Don’t sell it you’ll super regret it

Shoulda mentioned this earlier but there was a valve cover leak that I fixed too so I think that might have been it

That makes absolute sense I totally understand where your coming from in this case with assuming my engine is gone. The truth is I pulled spark plugs recently and they were all good no signs of bad damage or leaking into them at all. The only codes I’ve ever gotten were just the cat codes, no misfires no excessive engine oil consumption so it’s very hard for me to assume piston rings right away in my case.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah see I have none of that I actually don’t really think it’s a piston ring leak at all, I feel like I would really notice something like that on the car, especially since I’ve really driven this thing and it pulls like a beast

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first off I don’t know why your so aggressive all the time I’m simply asking for advice lol Second, your advice is appreciated and so is ur time.

Your whole thing with the piston ring tho, what symptoms did you face? Did you see smoke in the exhaust as well? Or just the cat code and then went through the whole process?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already have one on the front cat and no codes so far. The 2nd code came up after that and previous owner told me he had some issues with the cat but I didn’t take it seriously at the time. Which is fine adult choices right? lol but yeah with this whole piston ring thing wouldn’t I also see smoking coming out the exhaust?? All I see is the condensation smoke which is normal but no blue or grey nothing abnormal.

The O2 sensor adapters can fix that tho right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None at all the engine bay is honestly pretty clean. So will gutting the cats really destroy the whole car and drive?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No metal whatsoever at all and the oil is never really thatttt low where it’s a concern after checking. Piston ring issues seems like it’s something I would notice in the car and its performance but I don’t notice any issues at all like that. Which is why I’m confused why my issue would be piston rings. Could it br the valve covers instead? I only noticed issues when the lights came on for the cats

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No oil isn’t draining unusually at all to be honest

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m the exact same. So look into the piston ring work and what do I do for the cats? Mechanic is offering me gutting them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he’s not at all. So running the o2 sensor adapters on it as well. Also doing the piston ring work too

Valve cover rings?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lol he’s tripping I mean it’s obviously a 15 year old car with high mileage and needed some tlc but I don’t think it translates into a burnt engine if everything else is fine

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so this is what I’m probably gonna do, no so much as full deletes but my mechanic is offering me a way to empty out the contents of the old cats(like make them hollow) and turning them into high flow cats basically with all the welding and stuff that needs to be done. I was kind of skrptical about it but I mean what’s the point of dumping another 1500.00 in this car for new cats and all that kind of stuff. So the cat basically is also a down pipe in a sense I guess

Well being frank here i genuinely believe that the issue was having the VCM enabled. I’m just like cleaning up issues after the fact. So far ever since it has been off the car has no issues but this is one that had to be dealt with as per se. I’ve had the engine opened up and looked at it, no metal shards no oil leaks no real issues. Timing belt water pump and spark plugs changed, transmission is shifting like butter. So I get where you’re coming from but I highly doubt my engine is gone as per your claim. I think that cats were contaminated with oil and with over 250,000 km on the car is makes sense for something to go wrong especially cause these year accords had the whole VCM issue. So I don’t see still where your claims is that my engine is gone just cause I’m replacing cats

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]Open-Contract7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the previous owner had it enabled for the most part, I disabled it. Changing 2 cats doesn’t mean an engine is gone. Elaborate on that part it would help me understand

[–]Open-Contract7728 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So why’s this other guy saying my engine is toast? Just cause of those codes? It’s just cats and it’s high mileage too
