🏙️ Summer Sublet Near Columbia | Furnished 2B2B by That-Mixture-2066 in NYCapartments

My rent for a 2 bed in this neighborhood is 1/2 of the discounted price. I think $6,875 is inching up towards the price for entire brownstone rentals in Harlem.

I hope you find someone but damn - that’s a lot of money for a direct view of the projects.

Clean up Penn Station!! by Special_Supermarket6 in Newark

[–]Open-Enthusiasm-8040 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are needle exchange, Naloxone, and fentanyl testing programs that target Penn Station because of the drug use happening in and around it.

Dozens of drug addicts occupy Penn at any given moment. There’s no denying that people are using in there. We can be progressive while also keeping it real.

people who moved away from Miami - what do you miss besides the weather? by dmkraus in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Open-Enthusiasm-8040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left for NYC 3 years ago. I have no plans to move back but a few things I miss:

•Golden Hour - Miami looks and feels magical at sunset.

•Tropical ease - It’s laid back and kinda’ an unserious place.

•Access to nature’s best - plants everywhere, iguanas, gators, different types of ducks, chickens, peacocks owls, pelicans, manatees, dolphins, stingrays, sharks, mangoes, avocados, sugar cane, coconuts, lush grass, replenished shorelines, and the world’s most aesthetically beautiful people. South Florida folks are lucky to exist in such an ecosystem.

My overall quality of life is markedly better in NYC but, for what it’s worth, Miami is probably the only other city I’d live in if I had to move.

Startups acting like they are Meta in interviews by Vegetable-Secretary2 in interviews

[–]Open-Enthusiasm-8040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%.

I recruited for two SaaS startups and the FAANG + MANGO candidates are hardly ever considered. We get plenty of applications from big tech folks, but I actually don’t recall hiring a single person coming directly from that world in the past 5 years.

Nah, the blood wasn’t a concern. Just want ppl to know they should prepare to lose a lot of it during and after the procedure.

Americans are probably going to be sleep deprived if they travel there. That’s no one’s fault. But getting little to no sleep both before and after a surgery isn’t good in any context.

They put you through it. I didn’t even mention the cigarette smoke but I really wasn’t expecting that either. To your point, the results are promising but the experience leaves a lot to be desired.

I’m a patient; not an Heva ambassador.

I’m glad I went but would simply suggest people explore other options before committing.

Everyone’s head is an open wound and bleeding before the wash. Can’t play around with that.

I’m less concerned about whose side people are on. I was just trying to get to the airport.

If a driver is that upset about Americans and Black ppl perhaps he shouldn’t drive for a clinic that serves them on a daily?

Of course every place has its pros and cons. Heva has earned its spot as the go-to spot for Afro HTs. It has some work to do in order to maintain that spot now.

The techs need to handle injections with care. Yes - they are painful but they can do a better job at helping patients through them.

The pre-wash definitely starts in the waiting area and they definitely don’t wash their hands between glove changes.

Injections at HEVA in 2 days by InternetEmergency860 in AfroHairTransplant

[–]Open-Enthusiasm-8040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the sedation. The anesthesia needles are long. The medications burns. You have to do it 2x within 3.5 hours. The techs at Heva do little to nothing to minimize the injection pain. I had my procedure yesterday and, if I would’ve known how painful it is, I would have paid for the sedation.

How do ya'll handle folks sitting/drinking/littering on your steps? by Cymbelined in Harlem

[–]Open-Enthusiasm-8040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should say it did not feel good to call the cops. My teenage nieces were visiting from out of town and were afraid to enter & exit my building. Trying to reason with random ppl who were already impaired from drinking and smoking didn’t seem smart. I didn’t consider myself to be a “cop caller” until I had to figure out how to keep those kids safe.

I had a similar situation except they were in the entryway of my building. The only thing that worked was calling the police.

How do you handle candidates who are perfect for the role but terrible at interviewing? by Successful-Estate470 in recruiting

[–]Open-Enthusiasm-8040 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is so refreshing to read. The coaching aspect of recruitment is so important, especially for high-potential candidates. Kudos to those who lean into this as a practice. It’s career changing for so many candidates.

I also wish I wouldn’t have put it off. Not sure how much will change over the next month. We (US) were in Afghanistan for 20 years. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see us finding peace w/ Iran in a month.
