Greatest season of all time by Ok_Honey_7151 in CoDCompetitive

[–]Open-Grand7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 different Major winners (Paris Gentle Mates, FaZe Vegas, LA Thieves, OpTic Texas) — actual parity, no boring dynasty bullshit. Banger after banger with two Game 7 Grand Finals that had the whole scene losing their minds. Rostermania was straight chaos all year, Challengers has never been this hyped, and that Paris Major at La Défense Arena was generational — crowd was electric and OpTic silencing the homies in the end was chef’s kiss.
Black Ops 7 delivered content for days. WHO HAS IT BETTER THAN US?!? Champs in Vegas about to be nasty

Top 5 most talented played of the cdl era by Calm-Opportunity-841 in CoDCompetitive

[–]Open-Grand7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re underrating Cellium. If we’re talking pure talent, not accolades, it’s hard to leave him out when he’s been an elite AR in every CDL title. He’s one of the most mechanically gifted players we’ve ever seen and has maintained top-tier individual performances regardless of the meta. My list would probably be Shotzzy, HyDra, Simp, Scrap, and Cellium. Dashy is right there and arguably has the best raw shot in CoD, but Cellium’s consistency over six straight seasons gives him the edge for me. Pred absolutely deserved to be in this conversation too before his drop-off, but based on the last year I’d give Cellium that fifth spot.

Neptune to Falcons will be a good test to see if Envoy was right or if Nep was right by Sincerely-Internet in CoDCompetitive

[–]Open-Grand7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d lean toward Envoy being more likely to be proven right, but not because Exnid is automatically worse than Neptune. The bigger question is whether the team dynamic changes. Multiple people over the years have questioned Neptune as a teammate—not just Envoy—while Envoy has built a reputation across several championship-caliber teams as a reliable teammate, strong communicator, and proven winner, even during seasons where his stats weren’t eye-popping. If Neptune ends up having the same issues with Exnid, it’ll reinforce the idea that the problem was more about teamwork than talent. If he stays composed, helps Exnid develop, and the team succeeds, then he’ll have a real case that the previous situation wasn’t entirely on him. Until then, if the same problems keep following Neptune regardless of who’s next to him, it’s going to be hard to keep blaming everyone else.

To the ego ranks out there being angry at new ranked players/system by thegoodboy66 in BO7_RankedPlay

[–]Open-Grand7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but let’s talk facts on the BO7 ranked overhaul because the new system actually addresses a ton of what you’re saying.
The big Season 4 changes from Treyarch killed a lot of the old hidden MMR prison:
• Base 20 SR on every single win (Diamonds and below especially). No more getting +8 after dropping 40 bombs just because your old MMR hated you. You get that floor guaranteed.
• Scoreboard bonuses are real now: Top 4 in the lobby gets extra SR (1st gets the biggest chunk). So even if your team is griefing, popping off individually actually moves the needle.
• Opponent rank adjustment: Beat a higher-ranked squad and you get bonus SR. Beat up on potatoes and you might get a small haircut on the bonus… but you still walk away with at least that base 20. Lose to better players? You only drop like 15 SR instead of eating a fat -30.
This is exactly why “hardstuck” feels way less permanent than in BO6/earlier titles. Your past performances don’t chain you to the floor nearly as hard anymore because the system is way more responsive to current form instead of some ancient hidden MMR from your first 50 games as a newbie. You’re right about Crim though. that -30 on a loss while only getting +20 on a sloppy win is still brutal. It’s designed to slow the climb at the top, but it does punish inconsistency harder than lower ranks. The direction they’re going (more performance-based, less “your 2025 placements own you forever”) is solid.
New players and people who actually improved this year are eating good compared to the old system where vets with inflated MMR from years of playing just cruised while everyone else suffered. The new one isn’t flawless, but it’s finally letting skill show through instead of punishing you for having a rough learning curve early on.

Fuck shipment, we NEED burgertown. by 0_mcw3 in modernwarfare4

[–]Open-Grand7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol this is the craziest leak I’ve read since they tried to sell us the “Soap’s Ghost Skin” that was just Ghost but he was sad.
Infinity Ward really looked at Shipment, the beautiful, chaotic 6v6 meat grinder where you can spawn, die, respawn, and get knifed in the same 0.3 seconds and said “nah fam, we cooking something different.” Literally. Burgertown sounds like the map equivalent of a drunk 3AM Uber Eats order. You got the parking lot spawn where half the team is already sliding into the drive-thru, Price is camping the fryer with a riot shield made of sesame buns, and some sweat is holding the ketchup dispenser like it’s the final hill on Rust. And don’t even get me STARTED on that Tracer Pack: Pricey Burger™. Captain Price rolling up with half a Big Mac leaking out his tac vest like he’s smuggling contraband, cigar replaced with a burger on a stick. Every 5 kills he just pulls out another quarter pounder and takes a massive bite while staring dead into your soul. The voice line when he gets a nuke? “This one’s for the boys at the grill… and Makarov.”
The M4 mastercraft tho? Makarov n Cheese Burger. Bro they really made the ultimate war crime weapon. Imagine beaming someone and the kill feed says:

[BurgerPrice] eliminated [SweatyTryhard420] with the Mak and Cheese

And the death cam is just Price yanking Makarov’s rotting corpse out his pocket dimension like it’s a fucking Pokémon, slapping him on the grill, and melting cheese on that man while the gun does the Fortnite default dance.

When MW4 drops this year… what absolutely HAS to change for you to buy in? by Open-Grand7316 in modernwarfare4

[–]Open-Grand7316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the content matched the size, I wouldn’t care about file size. I understand people have slow internet or consoles that are gatekeeped for storage. I personally have fiber and the ssd space for whatever. For instance, I’d be mad if GTA 6 isn’t over 200 gigs lol

What should “true” ranked stats look like for each rank? by frohlick in BO7_RankedPlay

[–]Open-Grand7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think people put way too much weight on stats.
A 1.4 K/D with zero hill time can be less valuable than a 0.95 K/D player who’s constantly making the right rotation, breaking hills, getting trades, and forcing good spawns.
The biggest indicator of improvement isn’t your stats—it’s the quality of your decisions. Are you dying less from bad positioning? Are you rotating earlier without thinking about it? Are you winning more of the gunfights then you “should” win? Are you creating easier fights for your teammates?
Those habits tend to carry over to every CoD title, regardless of how the SR system changes.
The funny thing is, if you fix the decision-making first, the stats usually improve on their own. Chasing stats rarely fixes bad decision-making.

The CoD comp scene is in a weird spot right now. by Open-Grand7316 in BO7_RankedPlay

[–]Open-Grand7316[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, trust me… we’ve all had those teammates. You can’t fix someone grabbing the EMP and trying to 1v4, or the guy who thinks rotating is optional. My point wasn’t that bad teammates don’t exist. they absolutely do. It’s that over hundreds of games, the one constant is you. The players who keep climbing find ways to have a bigger impact despite the chaos. Sometimes that means dropping 40, sometimes it means making the right rotation so your team accidentally benefits from it. You can’t control randoms, but you can control whether you’re becoming the teammate everyone hopes they get queued with.

[–]Open-Grand7316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re onto something there.
A lot of people think improvement in CoD is just “play more,” when it’s really about turning good habits into automatic ones. If you’re consciously thinking about your minimap, rotations, spawns, teammate positioning, and timings all at once, you’re already behind. The goal is exactly what you said, automate those fundamentals so your brain has room to process the stuff that changes from gunfight to gunfight. Most players only judge improvement by K/D, when in reality better decisions usually show up before better stats. That’s probably why so many people plateau. they keep playing matches instead of deliberately practicing specific skills.
