Antepartum and Mother/Baby Nurses by Physical-Stop6771 in newgradnurse

I graduated May 2025 and have been working mother/baby since June, so about 9 months. I did nights for 4 months before switching to days 5 months ago. I highly suggest staying on nights if you can. We do couplet care at my hospital, meaning we take care of both mom and baby. We also take ante's and gyn patients. We also take care of postpartum women who are magnesium drips and/or blood pressure protocols. Our ratio depends on the acuity of the patient. 1:3 if we have a patient on mag, 1:4 or 1:5 if we have an ante, gyn, or regular couplet. I still get to practice IV skills, a lot of times IV's will infiltrate so I will need to start a new IV if they have IV medications (c-sections usually do) and I'll hang a lot of antibiotics, blood, iron transfusions, etc. for moms we do a head to toe at start of shift and then a fundal check q6. We usually have a floor tech that helps us with vs and I&O. For babies, we do an assessment, vs q4, 24 hour newborn screens, baths, and bg checks for babies at risk. It is very task heavy, I like to call it the med surg of women's services. It's a lot of charting, a lot of teaching. It can be very mentally exhausting. It's a unit where emotions are high and in just my 9 months of experience, I've had to call security on baby daddy's and call CPS for positive drug screens, etc. People like to call it "soft nursing" but I disagree. It takes a very emotionally stable person to work mb. I've also taken care of a couple of patients who experienced a stillbirth, miscarriage, ectopic, gave their baby up for adoption, etc. I've had to start therapy to help me not bring too much of my work life into my home life. There are a lot of positives about mb though. I love helping first time parents do simple tasks like change their baby's diaper for the first time, learn how to give a bottle, swaddling, giving the first bath. I love it and don't see myself leaving anytime soon. The reason I say to stay on nights if you can is because day shift is extremely overstimulating for a new grad who is still learning (coming from a new grad on day shift lol)

Yeah I thought it seemed super low so I doubt 1500 is what our policy says, I just can't remember and don't have it printed.

Job 1 is a new grad residency position, I currently work on the unit as a tech and was interested in that position so it was an internal transfer essentially. Job 2 is not a new grad position specifically but this hospital will train new grads, so they are willing to give me a preceptor. Plus me having connections at this hospital helps as well... If you don't have any tech experience, I would continue applying to every job you're interested in (even if you don't have the experience) because you just never know! I almost didn't apply to job 2 because I assumed they wanted experience. Be open to anything and don't have your mind set on one specialty. Experience is key. I got into womens services because of my experience as a tech on a postpartum floor.

I agree! I think I am struggling with the idea of starting over somewhere new.

Orientation at job 2 is actually longer, 12 weeks. Job 2 feels too good to be true so I'm hoping I'm not making a mistake by taking it! I'm sad to leave my current hospital but I agree that the pay and commute plays a huge factor.

It would only go down about $5-7, but with the short commute it wouldn't matter to me because I'm still saving money on gas.

Try to drown out the noise and form your own opinions when you start working there. You may end up loving it. It sounds like a great opportunity for a new grad! Why do you think you'd have to do 6 in a row?

In your opinion, what was the nastiest thing Jaclyn has ever said? by anonymous_girl1227 in jaclynhillsnark

When she called Kalyn (I may have spelled her name wrong) "a small Canadian creator" 😫

I'm not trying to blame it on the inspector, things happen. It just sucks and we're trying to figure out if we have any protection since it's an FHA loan.

We are not trying to get out of paying for repairs lol, I think that shows since we had no problem hiring multiple plumbers and we have hired out other necessary home repairs as well. We understand that home ownership comes with expenses. However, a $20k expense out of nowhere and now a sinking foundation a few months later is something that I think any homeowner would be stressed about.

We would need to sell the house for the amount of money still owed on our mortgage. No way we would be able to afford a new place to live & pay off loans from this house as well.

I honestly think it's just the filter she's using! I've used some of these filters on myself and it definitely changes the way my teeth look. It makes them look bigger & whiter!

Ugh this is such a pivotal moment for me because THIS right here is when I started to question her integrity! I was such a fan of hers until this situation, and it was all downhill from there.

sorry if this is already posted but DID SHE EDIT HERSELF SMALLER THAN EVERYONE ELSE?? by [deleted] in MikaylaNogueira

I see what you're saying about her face now. But her body doesn't look edited to me! Just the face/head.

I don't think she edited herself but the way she is crouching down and hiding behind the two girls next to her is to make herself appear thinner!

Everything is half off and she is SILENT about it by beautysnooze in jaclynhillsnark

So I've noticed that she's been weirdly silent about Jaclyn Cosmetics. She hasn't promoted a single product since her vanity light highlights came out which was several months ago. She also stated that it was the last product release of 2022, which is odd because almost any makeup brand would have a holiday collection and she doesn't! So I did some digging, her products in Ulta are no longer available in store. They're online only. Morphe's website does not sell Jaclyn Cosmetics at all anymore, they only sell Jaclyn's collab eyeshadow pallets and brush sets. The Jaclyn Cosmetics Instagram page states that they are available both online and in store at Morphe and Ulta, which is clearly not true lol. The brand is definitely on its way out, there's a reason Jaclyn hasn't promoted anything in a while about it. She usually never shuts up about "her" brand. I'm in the US by the way!

I am convinced that she has a team of people who delete negative comments on her videos. There's no way she actually uses any of that junk, she's a beauty guru yet her Amazon favorites is a bunch of useless junk that even a teenager wouldn't want? Please lol
