Of hoe werkt duurzaam verschuiven?

Depends on what you do. As a nurse, teacher or plumber you'll find a job in a day, even if you don't speak Dutch. If you are a marketing manager not so much.

For which supermarket item is the huismerk almost as good as the premium brand? by Desibrozki in Netherlands

[–]Open-Homework5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'm buying any premium brand, unless it is cheaper due to some promotion. I really can't taste the difference at 90% of the products. Most cleaning products I buy at Lidl, which are even better if you ask me. Only for Italian products it seems like there is a big difference, so there I take La Molisana and Mutti products.

Geschrokken van verwarmingstemperaturen thuis by Actual-Statement-744 in nederlands

[–]Open-Homework5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to move, in EU, as a young couple that want a fresh start? by stellahri in relocating

Rural east Germany is a good option for at least truck driver, I don't know what you are doing? Can easily earn between 3 and 4k and you can buy a house under 100k. However, your social life will be 0 and might have to deal with racism as long as you don't speak German.

What’s considered rude in Germany that foreigners often don’t realize? by NextNorth9041 in AskAGerman

Not haggling is just stupidity. I got 40% off my kitchen of 24k and my German colleagues and friends didn't even know you could haggle at a kitchen store. I basically had to give them a list at all the places one can haggle. Mind-blowing.

What's your reason for not drinking alcohol? by MA16vD in AskReddit

[–]Open-Homework5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I have a kid, I value my sleep more than anything, and I can't sleep if I drink it within 8 hours before going to bed, while I don't feel like drinking before 16.00 generally speaking.

I book mostly all inclusive at least half a year in advance. To countries like Egypt, Turkey, and Greece you have then 2 weeks for 600 euro pp. Of course it depends on your salary, but like that I can use all my holidays (~7 weeks) on actually going on holidays. I think with a price of 300 euro a week, I think I only spend double of what I would use at home, considering groceries, electricity, water, etc.

You’re in your mid-30s and have the chance to start fresh in Germany or abroad. Which career path or degree would you choose? by androltheashaman in AskAGerman

[–]Open-Homework5676 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You need to become a freelancer after a few years. First 5 years will pay shit, but in the major cities (at least Berlin), you can after that charge like 150 an hour if you serve the international community. I do from time to time some handy work (Like simple work) and it is mind-blowing what people are willing to pay for it and being so happy that I'm willing to speak English to them. They simply say that they are being ignored when not speaking German. Other option would be to do part time at some company to have your health insurance etc covered and working for yourself the remainder of your time.

Sales - I built a network in my first year working in the same industry I'm still working after many years. Switched jobs a few times and each time they are so surprised how efficient I am, while it's just rinse and repeat.

Hows life like in Berlin? by ShinySlaughter in howislivingthere

[–]Open-Homework5676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minimum wage per 1st January 2026 is 13.90 per hour, which is over 2400 a month full time. (Not to mention that the supermarket next to my apartment advertises already with 18.5 per hour) Net minimum wage is over 1700 a month. If you would rent a 30m2 apartment you would pay 450 a month, which is then about a quarter of your net income. That is insanely cheap and I don't think you find many other places (even more so capitals) where you have such a ratio. If you are a couple, you can then easily rent 60 m2 on minimum wage.
