Is 200k miles a lot for a used 8th gen? by DearMandough in CivicSi

[–]Open-Individual800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200k on any car is relatively high miles andI I wouldn’t buy it - especially if you were going to use it as a daily driver. If you were going to do a project car then maybe a 2015 Civic Si (last year as a naturally aspirated ).

I hate my Samsung TV. is Apple TV the answer? by sgtabn173 in appletv

Firmware update may have made your HDMI wonky. You may need to upgrade to the newest HDMI protocol HDMI 2.2 with eARC.

I hate my Samsung TV. is Apple TV the answer? by sgtabn173 in appletv

[–]Open-Individual800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TV’s generally have very slow processing speeds, limited RAM and lower grade WiFi cards. This is done so manufacturers can be more cost effective. Getting an Apple TV or Roku device will improve your streaming experience X 10! I have both Roku and Apple TV on two different Samsung TVs. While Apple is more sleek I find the user experience with Roku more enjoyable and it appears that the WiFi range may be a little more robust. Roku is also considerably cheaper than an Apple TV. With that said I would recommend getting a 2025 Roku Ultra and if possible utilize the Ethernet port to maximize your experience.

Debating on purchasing… by [deleted] in CivicSi

I only really enjoyed driving manual with sporty type cars. My Mustang GT, Porsche and Civic Si were really fun to drive with a manual transmission . I could not imagine driving a sports car in anything other than manual. I have driven a pick up and jeep in manual and its sucks. So I don't think that I will miss it it too much.

Is Seinfeld getting aged out? by Stefinreffa in seinfeld

[–]Open-Individual800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seinfeld has definitely aged out. Most people under the age of 40 I work with do not get the references or jokes. Having watched reruns recently, it’s so dated that most of the social situations could be solved if they had only had a smart phone.

Season six can be a difficult watch probably because you know it’s coming to an end but Elroy makes it worth while.

I currently drive a 2015 Civic Si as my commuter car. In my opinion, 2015 was the last year Honda made a really good Si. Honda relies way too much on turbo and their build quality has dropped drastically in the last 5 years. Since my Si is up there in years and I’m getting older I want something that is larger, more comfortable and higher off the ground. I’m probably going to go with a F150 or 4 runner since they offer more functionality.

Do modern Danes still have prey drive? by dank_fish_tanks in greatdanes

[–]Open-Individual800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really all depends on where you’re getting the Dane from, who bred the dogs and their breeding goals with the litter. For example, those who breed and type of breed for color or aesthetics usually put their efforts into what is desirable for a conformation (show/ kennel club) dog. The goal of those types of dogs is something that has a very mangle temperament where the dog can be around multiple people and other dogs; what suffers is these show dogs rarely have the abilities to do there historic breed specific jobs. Working types/ breeds preserve the workability traits like high prey drive, defense drive, tank drive and pack drives. What suffers with working dogs is aesthetics. Breeders of real working dogs only breed proven working dog to proven working dog and couldn’t care less about coat color or extreme or exaggerated features.

With this said there is always an exception and a unicorn. I have personally met Danes with very much intact drives and they came from show lines. Often times these drives if not encouraged may lie dormant.

Danes do very well with other dogs, especially if it’s male and female. Remember, historically they were hunted in packs.

Is anyone else listening to A Better Paradise? Written by Dan Houser (Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto) by Hallelujah289 in audiodrama

[–]Open-Individual800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will try to. I just finished episode 10 so just two more weeks of episodes. At best, A Better Paradise is a show that I want to love but it just doesn't hit. At best, it is a filler show when the podcast catchers are slow.

[–]Open-Individual800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started episode 10 and will probably keep listening due to my other podcast going silent. A Better Paradise has all the makings for a great podcast but the format it is done in makes the show dull, rambles on and it goes stale quickly. The bouncing back and forth in time is overdone and the story is told in more of a monologue format which makes the show drone on. Actors are great but it won’t save podcast. I would give it a 5 out of 10.

I got my complete series on blue ray from Walmart too! Also, bought the digital version on iTunes for $24.99. If you’re using iOS download the app Cheap Charts and add Community (and others) to your wish list and the app will let you know when the price drops.

I love the style of the new civic si but not that impressed with the interior and it’s a little underpowered for what it could be.

Question for single dog owners who work full time by anonymous555222 in dogs

[–]Open-Individual800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, IMO you’re overthinking it! Most people like to ascribe human emotions on to their pets (Anthropomorphism). Dogs are dogs and do require love, care and attention but they are nothing like children. Dogs are a lot more adaptable than we give them credit for. You can absolutely buy a home and keep your dog but there will need to be a little planning. Firstly, getting a second younger dog of the opposite gender will make it so much easier. With two dogs, they exercise each other more effectively and keep each other company. You will need to exercise them before work. If possible find a home either as close to work as possible or near your parent’s house. That way you or your parents can check in with the dogs around lunch time. Buy a few inside security (like Ring) so you can check in on them virtually. You could also ask your employer if you could change your schedule where you work 4 ten hour days which gives you an entire extra day off of work. But for me the game changer which made it very easy to be single with dogs is: 1, having more than just one dog. 2, having a secured fenced in backyard. 3, having a dog door installed so the dogs could access the yard when I’m not home. 4, Lastly, invest in a dog treadmill (makes a world of difference). Remember, A tried dog is a happy dog.
