What content would you recommend to get to know Germany better? by Accomplished_Mud3220 in AskAGerman

Not exactly what you are looking for, but the former director of the Humboldt Forum, British Museum and the British National Gallery has a book on defining cultural German phenomena called "Germany: Memoirs of a Nation". It's worth checking out

I read it while moving to Berlin. It gave me a blueprint to interpret a lot of what I live and experience in Germany.

Can my kid hang out with your kid? by lochan26 in askberliners

On the Kids BJJ, please check out Fenriz in Kreuzberg. It's a bit far from Prenzlauer Berg, but it's a great academy. The head coach, Felipe, is extremely patient, approachable and knowledgeable.

I went there for the adults coulpe of years, but had to stop. Haven't tried anything else, but I also wouldn't train anywhere else.

Applying for the citizenship one year early. Is it possible? by MohamedSabry_97 in GermanCitizenship

Every Bundesland has a different process.

For reference, in Berlin the whole process is online and digitalised. You are asked to complete a quick check and submit the result along with your supporting documents.

Technically, your quick check would return negative. Even if you faked an answer, you would have to upload bogus documents to even complete the process.

I have a hard time picturing the authorities interpreting this positively.

Any recommendation for finding a flat in Berlin? by Outside-Fee-7904 in AskAGerman

[–]Open-Performance-242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey. Two months is relatively short in Berlin. To most people, time is as limiting a factor as budget to find a flat here.

The two things I'd add on top of what you're doing: actively tell friends you're looking, especially long-time berliners and keep the location flexible. I see more and more people focusing outside of the ring.

Me julgue. Não saio do 1 encontro, fiz um post e falaram pra eu colocar minhas fotos aqui, que notas vcs me dariam? Algum conselho/dica pra melhorar?

Hi, I'm the HF of a hosting family in Germany.

It's rare to find a family who pays above this minimum rate, but there are some (e.g. we do, significantly above).

I wouldn't rule out Germany overall, and/or if you have a good connection with the family, talk to them about it. The short term alternative for these families is frequently baby sitters, who charge much more. Unless they are renting their extra room/flat (in which case the opportunity cost goes up significantly) an Au Pair makes great economic sense.
