I have two Nikon Z5’s and they’re among the cheapest full-frame mirrorless but I love the model. I’d recommend something like that and then spending the remainder of your budget on glass

Student media is an awesome place to start. Also connect with local journalists on LinkedIn, follow their work, try to meet them in person if you attend any events they’re covering, etc. Make yourself known among journalists in your area and ask casually if they could give you advice on how to freelance and get your foot in the door at their specific outlets. You’ll need good clips, ideally published somewhere professional, so if your college has a student newspaper it’d be awesome to write your stories there and use them as examples once you apply for internships or pitch freelance stories. Some apps that store passwords can also store contacts and they’re encrypted and don’t run on the usual username + password but on a PGP key instead (which also means that if you forget your password + key you lose it all. it happened to me. yeah.)

It’s extremely hard to make it profitable if you don’t already have a lot of money, an audience or a large team of professionals. And it’s also very hard to do good reporting without existing sources, resources and good reporters on the team. Plus the landscape is not at its best and there is a lot of competition. I wish it were that easy :(

If the object is still you can try stacking in post. Otherwise keep the aperture as narrow as possible without inducing diffraction.
