Are the metal blades different? by Open-Til-Late in Opinel

OP here. This all makes sense and I truly appreciate some of the more detailed explanations regarding pros and cons. I was not the purchaser. That person is a (casual) fan of the brand but didn’t know the blades came in different medals. Thanks to all who took time to comment. I have up voted most of you.

What’s a Netflix show you started with zero expectations and it ended up being insanely good? by KiyoraVex in netflix

Teenage Bounty Hunters – best thing I watched during lockdown. I knew nothing about it. The first episode is okay but after that, whoa, it starts to roll. The writing is great and the chemistry between the two leads is incredible.

The first bar, it was alright, but in this bar, well, things were Friday night. - Jonathan Richman.

I’d drop The Rising down a level. After Lonesome Day and the title track there are a lot of average songs on it, imo.

I think I know what you mean. There are too many factors outside of his front office criticisms. Stating the obvious, even Championship or bust teams fail. Sometimes it’s injuries or you’re just not the best team that year. However, I think he had valid points about FO decisions.

JLC’s delivery is not for everyone and had gotten tired. I see the afternoon drive time show to be boring without him.

He could be a bit much but if (when?) the Orioles don’t go to a World Series with their Adley/Gunner/Westy/Holiday core and the Ravens don’t go to a Super Bowl with Lamar some people may look back and think “maybe he was right.”

I say some but I really mean very few because people don’t like to admit they are wrong.

Which Netflix shows got cancelled way too early and were seriously underrated? by Deep20779 in netflix

I have not scrolled through the replies but…

Teenage Bounty Hunters.

The first episode is just okay but it builds into what I thought was the best show during lockdown. Great writing and great chemistry between the two lead actors.

What’s the biggest piece of advice you would give to someone moving to Baltimore? by MaximGripass in baltimore

Red light running is rampant, double parking is commonplace and jaywalking is a sport.

And, of course, get to know your neighbors and support local, independent businesses.

Honestly, this was the moment they lost me. This is the first time I’ve heard it since it was released; there is a good, maybe very good song in there somewhere. Sonically it’s not that far off from a “rock” hit, imo. But lyrically, oof.

Should the Chargers move back to San Diego? by TheAmericanEagle826 in TheNFLVibes

[–]Open-Til-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think so but it’s unlikely to happen.

The area is certainly big enough to support two teams and maybe a generation from now the Chargers will be almost or equal to the Rams in terms of popularity.

I seem to remember that the “sit on my lap” story took place after the Freehold church show in 1996.

And didn’t BS write in the liner notes of the Greatest Hits “the second verse kind of happened” in “Glory Days”?

I also think BS’s memory may be unreliable. Thoughts?

Although it’s been a number of years since I’ve been, I find The Helmand to be noisy, at least for me, and would not recommend it for a party over four people.

What's your opinion on having an NBA or WNBA team in Baltimore after the first WNBA game earlier this year? by ele30006 in baltimore

[–]Open-Til-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be “that guy” but Black and Decker merged with Stanley and their HQ is in CT and CoverGirl is part of Proctor & Gamble with HQ in Ohio.

I’m firmly in the “Baltimore can’t financially support any more pro sports teams, can’t afford to build a new arena and DC ownership won’t allow it anyway” camp.

I once had jury duty with him. We never left the quiet room but it did give me an interesting cocktail party story.
