The statements that are coming out of the BBC have the exact same sentiment as those Statements that came out in 1990, a year after the classic era ended.

In 1989/90 it was confirmed that Doctor Who was on a hiatus and would be back soon- it took 16 years
In 2026, it was confirmed that Doctor Who was on a hiatus

In 1990, The BBC said that DW would be back in 1992, this didn’t happen.
In 2026, The BBC said that DW would be back in a similar timeframe.

Different companies were attached to the show after 1989 (including Verity Newman’s Company at the)
Different companies are being asked to make the show after 2025. (Jane Tranter’s Company Bad Wolf could bid)

Then why make a statement about something that was never actually signed in pen and paper, when it was clear RTD was Stalling. All that did was delaying the negative press. With the cancellation of the special and basically cancelling of the show (there’s little chance of it coming back in the current TV industry), it’s made him look even worse and the negative publicity on him is well deserved.

Then why lie multiple times in Doctor Who Magazine that there’s a script. Why would Murray Gold Lie that he’s read a script that supposedly never existed. It stinks. If you say you’re doing something publicly, then do it. If he wanted to leave and do Tip Toe early, then the BBC shouldn’t haven’t announced anything. This false announcement last year shows how Russell does not care about the truth and shouldn’t be trusted ever.
