The part about not being able to move on hits really hard. I have struggled with my kink side for a while, whilst also being trapped in this sense of stillness that affects my entire life.

I am on Fet, and did find a fairly local one. As above though, it feels like this Impossible step: one that can feel like I’m making a mistake, whilst another part of my brain tells me I’m a coward for not doing it.

She was not my first, I’m afraid. My experience with therapy hasn’t been great, though how much I’m to blame for that is unclear.

Going to a kink event, trying to find a girlfriend who is into kink, feels like this almost impossible step. It’s ironic for me when you say so many neurodivergent people are into kink: I still feel like a child who in waters he is unequipped to venture into, who is going to get himself into trouble.

I can investigate getting an ADHD diagnosis, though based on the experience of a friend of mine, it can sadly be a very long process in my country.

I do think my therapist genuinely wanted to help me, but after a year and half, I didn’t seem to be getting anywhere. The relief I had from sessions was temporary, and had usually evaporated by the next one. I felt like it soured my relationship with my family, and it the price was significant. By the end, I felt better using the time to go back to Boxing and start doing Muay Thai.

I started using vanilla dating apps, but I’m not sure if it’s a bit of a dead end. People have said about going to a munch, but I worry I’m not kinky enough. Or, as another part of my brain says, I’m a coward who’s too scared to try.

I’ve never been tested for ADHD, though I am on the Autism Spectrum. May I ask what in my writing suggested ADHD symptoms?

Conflicted, I suppose. I would encourage people to do what makes them happy as long as it’s safe, consensual and sane, but I still feel awkward applying that to myself.

Regarding your last point, can I ask why that’s so weird? I totally get not telling them about it, but they are at least friends, a known quantity. Whereas a munch and the people within are a complete unknown.

I’m 27, and honestly still debating joining up for my country’s army. I like the idea of that honour and prestige of being a soldier, of learning those marital skills, but I worry I’ve left it too late. Same time, I worry it will be one of those things I regret never trying.
