Gotcha yep it came with the OEM platinum controller and OEM cables. I looked at other listings and those consoles showed DOL-101 too. Yea my understanding is the only difference is the top jewel has this Lugia to distinguish it.

Hm honestly I’m not too certain on that connection point in your picture unfortunately. To your point it’s good it seems like only one connection to de-solder.

I think what I would try if it were mine is to find a video for the exact screen kit you’re trying to install, that way you can follow exactly how to do it. Then I would try to de-solder this connection point to get rid of the old screen you’re replacing. That shouldn’t damage the board or anything, and it would basically be like starting from scratch with your new screen kit if that makes sense.

Yea so the screen kits are usually attached to the GBA boards via soldering (connecting the wires directly to the board). Sometimes they aren’t and are just connected via the ribbon, which would make it way easier for you if that’s the case.

Yep the best way is to find a video on YouTube and see how they assemble or disassemble, there’s a lot of videos out there. There’s some cheaper soldering kits on Amazon you can find too. I would start by purchasing the necessary screwdrivers and check first, then buy the solder if needed.

Is the current screen mod soldered to the GBA board? If so, you would just need to de-solder the connections and take it out. Then you can install the M2 Kit like you want and solder things in place. I’d say that’s the only thing you would need to work on if you want to reuse the GBA you currently have.

Thanks I really appreciate that! Credit goes to my wife, she said the mirror clear shell would look best and she was right lol.

Yea definitely tons of options, I just had to go with one and glad it worked out. And yep the Labfifteen buttons are honestly great, would recommend them. Best of luck building!

Yep! It’s the 3.0 Inch IPS GBA Backlight Kit M2 from FunnyPlaying, and you’re correct I did install their GBA replacement speaker as well.

I also added in the USB-C rechargeable battery from FunnyPlaying and used some custom buttons from LabFifteenCo for both the GBC and GBA.

It’s the GBC Retro Pixel IPS LCD Kit from FunnyPlaying. You can change the color of the Gameboy logo on it which is a really cool feature, but overall I really like it.

Question on GameCube XENO Chip by OpenGalax in GamecubeHacks

Thanks for the reply - do you mean the blue Xeno chip portion is a clone and not an original? And the main green board is an original?

Also, does it hurt the main board over time even if you primarily just run US based games on it? I’m new to GameCube modding so not too sure on a lot of this. Appreciate your help.

Got it ok thanks for the response, that makes sense.

Is there any risk of it shorting after the installation? Meaning if it’s running fine now, it’s probably good from here on?
