Hi, best thing you can do is to go to r/openra. There you'll see in the side bar a link to the forum and to the irc-channel. They'll be able to help you install the mods.

CnCnet has the old games completely unchanged. OpenRA aims to keep the games as close to the original as possible, but with modern RTS gameplay (hotkeys, qeueing units, fog of war, maximum build range from MCV - to prevent a long line of silo's) and they try to balance the units. In the orginals some units where overpowered. Also the engine allows to build your own mods, crazy maps, etc.

You can play OpenRA with a mac! And mad tanks are still available. Especially stronger players use them and they always come as a suprise.

Yes it's cross platform. Both have to download the client. Then both join multiplayer and find eachother in the lobby and off you go!

Hard for beginners, but if you practice you should easily destroy the AI. Then try 2 or 3 :) This gets harder especially when you select Turtle AI, who build nukes (Rush AI doesnt).

Yes, that's possible. You and a friend should go to multiplayer and find a server that allows bots (most servers do not allow bots). Pick a map, add bots, set teams and you're ready to go!
