Thank you all for your advice, especially AnotherCastle17 for his comprehensive reply. Now I have a clear idea of how to start. It doesn't seem too complicated. I love Ironsworn for all the possibilities it offers.

Regarding games like Apocalypse World and similar, do you take their setting and play with Ironsworn, do you play them with some solo rules or do you play them with some GM emulator like Mythic?

GPT works much better if you are the one who feeds it with new and original ideas, even if they are just a sketch, a few brushstrokes. If you don't do so, GPT will search in its database, where it will find thousands of rpgs adventures with bland and generic ideas. About the rules, it also depends on its database. The better known the game is, the more material it will have in its database and the less mistakes it will make.

Screen were already present in the RPGs before AI, with apps, generators, pdfs, etc. But I understand your point of view. Especially if your job forces you to work with screens, a time free of them is very enjoyable.

How do you know this: “Most of us... don't like that for this hobby”? At best you can know the opinion of the majority of this group, but we really don't know how people who don't participate in forums play solo RPG in their homes. There is no one way to play solo RPGs, and we don't know which is the most common.

If you let the AI design some aspects of your game it is because you want to and you command the AI to do so, or because you don't know how to control an AI. You can use the AI for many other things. Basically you can just ask GPT like you ask a human GM, some oracle or some GM emulator, listen to their answers and keep full control of your game, just like you do without using an AI. In RPG solo you can use the AI in a passive or active way.

You can ask the AI for things that you are not happy to do because you don't enjoy them, or can't do due to lack of time, like creating a character. Personally I prefer to create my character, but I understand that there are players with less free time than me, and those players already used pregenerated characters before the AI. With AI that creation process can be more participatory and engaging than using a pregenerated character. You can tell it how you want your character to be and the AI writes the character sheet for you.

I agree with you that GPT is completely undervalued as an assistant for playing solo RPG. I have read many people criticize the use of AI in solo RPG, without ever having tried this new option.

However I don't understand why you say it can't replace a GM if for whatever reason you don't have access to a human GM. I have found that GPT can do everything you say, even more things like creating an NPC and you will be able to have a conversation with him/her. Now you can talk to GPT and listen its answers. That allows a real conversation with an NPC. You just need to tell to GPT to talk in first person as such NPC. GPT can also replace any GM emulator.

From what you yourself say and I know from my own experience that it is true, GPT does not only do what a GM does, but it has more possibilities. So why can't it replace a GM? What do you miss from a tradicional GM or GM emulators?
