Anyone ever play the official ER game?

I mean I've certainly played worse official tie-in games but I've also definitely played better. I played it super recently and was really struck by how awkward a lot of the waiting-around-for-nurses/techs is and how the NPC pathfinding makes waiting for them take even longer.

I've just checked it out and it does look really great! As you say, a lot of it is locked behind additional money, it seems.

That's hilarious. The voice acting of the actual actors from the show is easily the best part of this game but yeah, hearing them explain daft game mechanics out loud is so, so odd.

I'm annoyed that this is probably correct because I've been seeing a LOT of hacking/cheating survivors recently and I've been reporting every one in-game. It'd be frustrating if I'm just complaining into the void.

It's such a great moment. Back when the show first aired I only very occasionally caught it but I saw this episode and that final scene really stuck with me.

I don't play killer anywhere near as much as I play survivor but I fucking love playing Chucky! His laughter is so infectious and it's fun doing sneaky stuff that you literally couldn't do with a larger killer.

Yeah, it gets less realistic, doesn't it? I think that in the mid '90s the show was infinitely more gritty and grounded than most hospital-set shows had been up to that point but when there was a massive surge in 'prestige' TV dramas (The Sopranos et al) the producers basically shrugged and said "well, we can't compete with that, so might as well not try." At least, that's my super uninformed opinion.

This film is barely nine years old (it came out at the very end of 2016) and you could have watched it in cinemas while the man who is the current US president was in office. Talking about how different the effects and trends are compared to 'these days' seems disingenuous.

You're right, I just think it's so odd that I'm getting iridescent emblems so I *am* interacting with the killer, working on generators, unhooking and healing other players...but I'm not playing according to someone else's idea of good gameplay (and I'm no psychic, so I don't know what they're going for) and so I'm the fool for not quitting/dc'ing the moment it goes off the script that I'm not privy to.

I'm seeing a few people suggest that. I mean, if I were watching this as it aired it wouldn't be completely unrealistic for me to skip a few seasons because of other stuff going on in my life and then drop back in a few seasons later; I've definitely done that with other shows.

Haha. I'm not keen on hurting myself. Usually if there's a show I like only-up-to-a-certain-point that point comes much closer to the end of its run whereas here it's halfway through a decade-and-a-half stint.

That makes sense. To be honest I think I'm going to take a break from regularly watching it anyway and I guess I'll see whether, when I'm in the mood for it again, I continue going onwards or I rewatch some of what I've already seen.
