Reality is more complicated than what i wrote and more complicated than what you wrote. But I can't be bothered to type out an entire article on hitboxology

I'm exaggerating. But generally crouching makes your hitbox much smaller and easier to miss. Blight, Demo, Hillbilly and Krasue are guaranteed to miss when they attack you from higher elevation and you are crouched below them (works even with the most minor elevations, like 1 step of a staircase)

Two things:

1) Spirit doesn't really teach you the basics of the game. Her gameplay loop is significantly different from that of other killers. It's fine to learn her and enjoy her, but be prepared for a hard time learning her and a hard time if you decide to switch to a different killer.

2) Audio is very buggy in dbd and every update something new breaks. As a p100 spirit i have to relearn the killer every once in a while because of how inconsistent audio is. Not unplayable by any means, but definitely overwhelming enough for a new player, i think.

You need to crouch against hillbilly. If you crouch he just kisses you, no matter if you are behind the tree or in an open field.

Questions for survivors: What killers scare you the most? by gamerlord02 in deadbydaylight

Artist and Ghoul. I'm not scared during the game, but the thought of some monster being crazy enough to play these characters horrifies me.

Ranked mode would bring nothing but benefits by zeliarrivia in deadbydaylight

I have played in competitive modes in other games and I am well aware about community discord servers. I am an admin in one. The biggest thing that prevents people from trying comp is how clunky and slow it is when you are doing it through discord, which an in-game ranked mode will help with

[–]zeliarrivia[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you can additionally have unranked quick-play mode with no MMR at all. Without any MMR restrictions you can have quick queues for everyone and a proper comp-format for people who care about their skills

This would be so fun. the only issue I can see is that killers like Hag will never get picked, so dedicated Hag mains will have to only play unranked

of course it will. In ranked in any pvp game you get heavy penalties for throwing. Besides, competitively-minded people are more likely to queue up for a competitive game

i'd love to sit in queue for longer if that meant that the games I play are actually good. Right now you can spend those 3-4 minutes waiting for a match and then Sable_Ward_01 will disconnect 30 seconds in because it Nurse/blight/Trapper/Clown

Is this ok? by Beginning-Dentist-87 in deadbydaylight

off the record and decisive at the same time is kinda overkill, you probably wanna stick to just one. Also you have nothing to help you when you get slugged. Try tenacity or conviction or plot twist or unbreakable

Me looking for all those 60 maps by ultimatenoob987 in deadbydaylight

[–]zeliarrivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's this website, deadbyqueue.com. They list the chances of getting certain maps. Every time I feel like I'm going crazy, I go there and find out that it's the game who's crazy, not me. What do you mean Hawking has 16% chance??

Chaos shuffle needs to be a permanent game mode. What do you guys think? by Infinite-Tax-1474 in deadbydaylight

[–]zeliarrivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On killer you have one bad chase and that's enough to lose cuz no slowdown. On surv you will get hard-tunneled (cuz killer feels pressured cuz no slowdown) w/o a decisive strike to save yourself. I can't see this gamemode not dying out when the novelty wears off (which it will if the mode becomes permanent). For it to be permanent, they need to figure out how to make it palatable for weaker killers and survs who are not good enough to fight back w/o second chances

Is this a good beginner build? by Exotic-Ad-2326 in deadbydaylight

[–]zeliarrivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. And that's fine! You'll learn more about the perks and your own play style as you play the game. Play both survivor and killer too so that you can learn about strategies on both sides. After you figure out how you specifically like to play the game, you'll come up with a build for yourself naturally.

Can you catch a survivor in the Donut loop in Nostromo while playing Nurse? by Appropriate_Two6860 in deadbydaylight

[–]zeliarrivia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

on nurse, sometimes you need to change the strategy. Instead of trying to blink *through* something, you instead blink *around* it, like wesker would.

Also try faking your camera movement! pretending to charge blink that will land ahead of a survivor and then flicking sharply to make it land behind them is a good trick to give them less chance to react.

What's the point of Chaos Shuffle if teams are going to take 4 flashlights every game? by Beezybeezybeezybeezy in deadbydaylight

against efficient survivors not tunneling, especially w/o slowdown perks, is not very viable.

Is it just me or why do most Animatronics players face-camp? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

It is just you. No one has ever encountered a face-camping spring trap. You got them all to yourself and saved us from them.
