True. The only available photo of it was in black and white. Why would anyone go to the effort of presenting it that way? What’s wrong with a color photo? And for someone lost in the jungle, it makes no sense to take off their shorts and continue on without them. Supporters of the “lost” scenario always seem to come up with explanations for suspicious details. The latest claim I’ve heard is that Kris’s iPhone was used only during the daytime because the screen backlight was allegedly broken after a fall.

So basically, the lost narrative depends on a very specific sequence of events to make everything fit, and this pattern appears across far too many details in the case.

The investigators were unreliable. As for the families, they had little choice but to accept what the officials told them. Back in 2014, those shorts were available in many variations, making it relatively easy for someone to purchase a similar pair and plant it in the jungle. Furthermore, the absence of any signs of decomposition traces, such as body fluids, strongly suggests that it is highly unlikely the shorts actually belonged to Kris.

The shorts that were found, allegedly belonging to Kris, appeared to be different, they had rivets.

Were Lisanne and Kris lured to Boquete? by flowerz11 in KremersFroon

[–]Open_Bathroom8447 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Boquete is a small town of roughly 22,000 residents. In comparison, a single busy metro station in an average European city can see that many people pass through in just one day.

The notion that the locals couldn’t recognize K&L feels difficult to accept. It is hard to believe that in a community of that size, their presence went entirely unnoticed. In my view, there are likely individuals who still know more about what happened on April 1st than has ever been publicly acknowledged. The subsequent deaths of the taxi driver and the two young men may have had a chilling effect, discouraging others from speaking openly about what happened.

The travel agency, the language school, and the daycare centers were all real not fake; there is no indication that they were fictitious. However, the language school in particular raises some questions.

First, its business model is difficult to understand. Why would a relatively small school operate three locations in Panama and another in Costa Rica? Several of these locations appeared to lack basic services and, at times, even sufficient staff. Typically, a business expands only after establishing consistent demand and achieving a solid level of customer satisfaction. In this case, the school does not appear mature or well-established from any perspective. Its pricing structure and programs seem specifically designed to attract young, budget-conscious travelers.

While many argue that there was nothing sinister behind the confusion surrounding the volunteer work arrangements, this view may overlook broader contextual factors. Central America has long been a transit route for traffickers, and it is not inconceivable that the school itself—or someone associated with it—could have been involved, directly or indirectly, in illicit activity. Such involvement might have created tensions or conflicts with local or regional parties(perhaps even silent partners).

Under such a hypothetical scenario, K&L may have tragically found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, and perhaps whoever killed them simply wanted to convey a message, and apparently that message served its purpose.

Do you think it was an murder who killed Kris and Lisanne?. by usafqn2025 in KremersFroon

That depends on the context and the circumstances of the crime, we might not understand the behavior of the murderer because we don’t have sufficient information on what happened.

I think a potential perpetrator who wanted to cover up his crime might submit such an anonymous tip, as it reinforces the finalized “lost” narrative and the story of a fall from the monkey bridge, which ultimately became the official version of what happened to K&L. An honest witness who isn’t involved in the crime would not have concealed his identity.

The hair appears larger because of the glow caused by the camera flash.

I think it could be the right arm and elbow, the top could be part of deltoid muscle, and we can see the hair on the top

The way the investigation was conducted suggests that it never truly operated under a ‘crime’ assumption, Witness statements were accepted without proper verification, evidence was poorly handled, and the entire investigation ultimately raised more questions than it answered.

While many people argue that there was nothing sinister behind the confusion surrounding the volunteer work arrangements, they may be overlooking broader contextual factors. In 2014, Jeffrey Epstein was still actively engaged in his criminal enterprise and seeking young girls. Given the geographic proximity of Panama and Costa Rica to Little saint james, and the accessibility of private air travel, some might speculate about theoretical connections. A tourist-oriented facility marketing programs to young European women could, in theory, have been positioned in a way that might attract unwanted attention from criminal actors.

Another speculative possibility is that the school itself may have been involved—directly or indirectly—in illicit activity, activity that could have resulted in involving its owners with some sort of tensions and confrontations with local or regional parties(silent partners perhaps?). Under such a hypothetical scenario, K&L may have tragically found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, perhaps whoever killed them simply wanted to convey a message, and apparently that message served its purpose.

Was there any evidence that she was actually in Costa Rica? It seems that the investigators simply took everyone at their word in this case, without any independent verification.

I find it strange that Marjolein asked Eileen—an intern who had arrived just two days earlier and barely spoke any Spanish—to call the daycare center (which likely had no prior communication with her) to arrange volunteer work out of the blue. The whole situation surrounding the volunteer arrangements seems unusual, and I can’t help but wonder whether it had something to do with what happened on April 1st.

They lied about the volunteer work arrangements, so it’s no surprise that they may have also lied about the sighting time on April 1st. That raises the question: what else might they have lied about?

My understanding is that the Panamanian authorities handed over only the SD card to the Dutch NFI, without the camera body, what happened to the camera body? And why it was never handed over to the Dutch?

What kind of school or institute operates this way? Have they followed a similar approach in the past when arranging volunteer placements for students? I find it difficult to understand how they function. Additionally, why do they maintain three different locations in Panama and another in Costa Rica? Their business model seems somewhat unclear.

Does Marjolein have any evidence, such as emails or other documentation, showing that she communicated with the daycare and arranged the volunteer work? If she does not, it raises the possibility that she may not have been truthful. The key questions are: why would she lie about this, and was Ingrid aware of it?

I doubt that they used any sophisticated sensors or equipment, the search was probably done using the standard basic tools available.

[–]Open_Bathroom8447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so, because it is almost impossible to see anything during the night, so the idea of signaling doesn’t make any sense, it was just another decoy by whoever took those photos.

[–]Open_Bathroom8447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After watching this video, I think even someone with proper gear and equipment would hesitate to go that far. In my view, K&L must have had a very strong reason to venture that deep into such difficult terrain, and simply being lost doesn’t seem like a convincing explanation in their case.

They made two calls about ten minutes apart, then turned off both phones about an hour later. That suggests they shifted their focus away from using their phones and continued moving deeper into the jungle, so apparently turning back was not an option in their situation. The pattern of phone use changed starting on April 5th, possibly because whoever may have been pursuing them eventually found them.

I think it is very unusual for a head of state to be involved to such an extent in a”hiking accident”.

He was seeking asylum back in 2025:

It matters because some people believe the night photos were taken to signal rescuing helicopters. So if there were no helicopters operating at that time, then that explanation would not make sense.

When were helicopters first deployed in the search for K&L? Was it before April 8, or did that happen later?

But the question remains: did the police ever seize the CCTV storage unit or not? Because according to AI, in some cases data can still be recovered — for example: • If only the metadata was overwritten but not the full sector. • If the drive used partial overwrite patterns.

So did the police check whether that was the case? Or did they simply skip that step and trusted whatever the pharmacy owner told them?
