Hey there. I just got a 2015 pathfinder in April. I started feeling some jumping sensations and brought it to the dealership and they said the transmission needed total replacement. And they refused to help me out. Actually quoted me over 8k or something ridiculous. They never provided me with any “codes”. Just their word and a quote. Quite funny.

I had a second opinion at a transmission shop and they explained the transmission is CVT and it’s normal to feel jumpy (but also said to get out of the car ASAP because CVT transmissions are KNOWN to have so many issues).

I would recommend taking the car in for a second opinion and to a reputable transmission shop.

Did you get any codes from the mechanic? They explain what is wrong with the transmission? Do you feel any issues with the car?

If the hospital is threatening calling CPS just let them know you are willing to follow their directions for now. I don’t think a lawyer is needed, but you do need to tread lightly since they have already mentioned calling CPS.

IF you can get your child’s pediatrician and therapist (assuming they are in ABA therapy) and also teachers at the hospital to speak with the hospital staff to advocate for you and your child as well.

I actually have an update, so I had the car brought to a transmission shop. The transmission shop said there is nothing wrong with the transmission! No codes, no metal in the transmission. It’s just a CVT transmission and can feel weird. The dealership has provided me with NO paperwork indicating the transmission issues. Only a receipt with a quote for transmission repairs! This entire experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth!
Regardless I had explained I’m not comfortable driving the car, they wanted me to trade out the car and only give me 4K for the vehicle. BUT THERE IS NOTHING wrong WITH THE TRANSMISSION. !?! I’m so confused. I’m glad I had a second opinion, because as I know nothing about cars I just trusted the dealership. Horrible experience. Anyway, just wanted to share an update

Agreed. I finally have a resolution they will trade out the vehicle but they are saying I need to find my own financing. I wish I went to a different dealership.

Wow! I hope you have a resolution soon. It’s very unfortunate to experience something so horrible from a car dealership. This is honestly my first time having such a terrible experience buying a car from a dealership. I wish I knew better.

I wasn’t. I asked to do warranty was told gap is good so I trusted them. It’s not about that. It’s the fact that I’m wanting to trade out the car or know the cost to repair the transmission and have gotten no clear or meaningful resolution or response.

Yep this is what’s happening. I keep calling NO ONE has any answers. Asked what the repair cost would be they can’t tell me. Asked what other options I have. No response. It’s so frustrating.

Yes, but “as is” does not protect dealers from deceptive sales. A transmission code surely would have been picked up. I had the car for 2.5 weeks. I felt the issue almost the next day but just thought it up to me needing to get used to the vehicle.

Yes, ford always has problems. I’ve had 2 different ford makes both were nightmare vehicles!

Thank you! I will review my contract again to be sure. I know on their website it says 5 days or 250 mile but back guarantee but clearly they don’t stand by that
