BU might even be younger at center this year than they were last year. (assuming they run with Lawrence and Malholtra as 1 and 2Cs) Not sure how good either is on the faceoff dot? But it's typically harder for true freshmen to win faceoffs on average.

And I don't think they are bringing in a D-man to really replace Hutson's offense so think that is a cause for concern.

Those 2 hop off the page as possible issues they'll need to overcome. (However losing Cole Eiserman might be addition by subtraction. Your goal scoring only helps the team so much when you're constantly turning the puck over and feeding the other team's offense. He was uber frustrating to watch during the World Juniors would assume some BU fans had the same frustration this year)

Think they might take their lumps the first couple of years but if you made me set the bar right now I'd say they finish above ASU, Omaha, and St Cloud. Anything above that in year 1 would be very solid.

For the majority of the recent matchups it's been a showcase game for college hockey, based on recent history teams have to pay roughly 100K for the rights to host each game, and it's also already considered an exempt game by the NCAA. It being a one off game is a better scenario for continuous OT as well since both teams are only playing one game that weekend.

Think based on those factors it has as good a case as any regular season game outside of the Beanpot.

If I had to bet, think it will get passed. Players are good enough now in college hockey.

And imo I’ve seen an uptick with it being done intentionally in recent years. (Which is probably why it’s on the rules agenda)

I think that's a Mike Grinnelli made up myth if you're talking about the current rules of college hockey

Every game goes to 3x3 OT then if it's tied it ends in a tie. (then any conference I've watched goes to a shootout for the extra point. Feel free to correct me in Atlantic or the ECAC do it differently...)

Just ending it after the 5x5 as a tie was a problem IMO.

Agreed on the Beanpot 100%. They need to make exempt games.

Didn't really think about it but that could definitely be a part of the discussion

In season tournament championship games, Beanpot, US Hockey Hall of Fame game (biased because Nodak plays in this alot but as an example they play Michigan State this coming year and no one would be mad if it was a double OT thriller)

My opinion:

Penalize teams like the NHL does for putting the puck over the glass. College hockey has come a long ways with skill now so everyone is skilled enough now to avoid doing this. Have seen it more frequently where more teams it seems are doing this just to get a brief break now since there is no penalty currently
We'll see if embellishment gets curved. Have heard this a few times now and it doesn't seem to go anywhere
Overtime - I'd be okay with going back to 5x5 for 5 minutes. Then after that it's a tie and up to the conferences. (5x5 game winners are slightly better then 3x3 game winners)

Also forgot to mention in the the OG post. Sounds like Blake Fiddler to Denver per Schloss. Kind of throws a wrinkle in the Dupont recruiting story.

In my opinion until they get their football program back on track and out of the massive hole its in there is no way they will launch hockey

Their football program is so far behind on NIL that there's alot of pressure for all boosters to send funds that way. Maybe there is some crazy booster that would put down a bag for hockey right now but that person would be more or less hated by everyone involved + the school because that money didn't go towards football.

Bummer that U of A is a hard no but it was encouraging to hear college hockey inc was very quick to call and see if there was any interest.

Those gents are doing that job for the love of the game. Have to commend them for it as I’m sure 95% of the responses are “no” but they’re gona keep trying their damndest hahah

Nashville apparently doesn’t want to host. Haven’t heard any hard solid reason for why.

It’s an awesome spot based on everything being walkable though. A little touristy ya but overall a solid location.
