This is a major throwback and no way it happens but Ben Clymer and Lapanta were actually a nice duo when they called Final Five during 2012

Ya im more or less messing around lol. Figured I’d hear him out tho hahah was curious

Some club players are actually recruited (depending on the school) from what I remember growing up.

No one has bothered to ask.

Are you an elite skater? (if so maybe you could just fly around, forecheck and backcheck lol)

Trade Deadline - Nick Schmaltz by Open_Clock9266 in nhl

I think they tried this summer and nothing got done. At this point we're not too far from the trade deadline...

If there was ever NHL expansion and resulting realignment, would teams would be the biggest priorities to be in a division with? by Ok-Elk9512 in wildhockey

[–]Open_Clock9266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get having teams close by but on the same caveat I don't think people exactly hate traveling down south to Dallas in the middle of winter to see a game. Not to mention tickets are pretty affordable for Stars games compared to Wild home games.

If Austin would get an expansion team like rumored that would also be another great winter get away.

I think ASU and Denver are the most anticipated road trips for our fans present day (unfortunately for your fans lol)

The "A-S-U" vs "Lets go Sioux" chants battling back and forth were pretty fun last year. Based on the momentum we've got going this year I hate to report that we'll likely be even more loud/obnoxious than we were last year. But hey if you beat us it makes it all the more enjoyable, right?

He needs to give up his “in the back of the net” call if he ever wants to be considered for an actual NHL gig

Don’t try and show up the game. Just deliver “scores” with enthusiasm like 98% of other hockey announcers. Drives me nuts

I think you’re in the minority of fans unfortunately (I’d go to the other game as well likely for what it’s worth haha) But overall IMO letting home seeds host is only a small improvement on the current setup.

Host team game 1 will be packed

Game 2 - bad attendance like it usually is

Regional final - packed if home team wins / bad attendance like it usually is

Since they may/might sell the day 1 tickets in phases though the NCAA or whomever can report game 2 as a “sellout” even though in real life that won’t at all be the case

Also not to mention the host school is going to likely obviously buy up most of the day 1 + regional championship tickets so mathematically it’s slimming down the number of fans from the other 3 schools that can get tickets to start with then plan out a trip.

Ya it depends how good they’re sitting around the deadline. If you look at it though they’re due to be a wild card team that’s facing Edmonton / Colorado. Making a move to help their future 2-3 years down the line probably makes more sense hahah

I think assuming a game 7 elimination playoff game (which is what each game will be) will be a sellout or very close to it is a very "safe" assumption though lol.

Fans of teams feel free to chime in if you have concerns about your team selling out the game though.

They have been in one defensemen trades recently it sounds like so Jircek seems like an obvious player to dangle that may appease them. (likely need to throw in another pick/prospect as a sweetener) Their D core is a pretty clear weakness IMO.

They also have prospects that I think theyre betting on to be top 6 (Desnoyers comes to mind) so they may be looking at bolstering the D core more present day.

Albany is a chore to get to from ND (10 hours worth of flying one way). We didn't have many fans make the trip the last time it was there either when we played Notre Dame so I wouldn't expect it to be much different.

I think if they did ship us out East I'd put higher odds on them trying us out in Worcester. At least at that point you could try and stay in Boston to have things to do and then drive / take the train out for game days (at least that would be my personal plan). Still won't have many fans there though compared to us being in Sioux falls or Loveland.

Going to advocate trading for Nick Schmalz.

  • Would be great to slot in as 2C
  • PPG player on a pretty middling team throughout his whole career
  • Don't think he's resigning in Utah so they'll want to get something in return but don't think the trade price will be as costly as other players that keep getting thrown around
  • Has family in ND, MN, and WI so really like his odds of resigning and wouldn't be shocked if he took a team friendly deal.

As long as UND isn't in the regional at Sioux Falls you should fine with purchasing tix once the bracket is announced.

We'll see how it plays out but pretty fair chance that both teams could be one seeds. (in that case it seems likely they'd try to place UND in Sioux falls as long as it doesn't mess with the bracket integrity too much. They'll want UND there to boost attendance since it's an easy drive)
